If you put the $$ down and have a written offer in hand, you should be good to go. If the dealer tries to pull it out of the deal once the truck arrives, I'd simply tell them that if they are going to change the terms of the agreement, that you'd like your deposit back (immediately) and walk out

Easy enough to walk away if they pull it.

walk into the dealer knowing what the numbers should be after trade in, customer cash, any other discounts.

I wouldn’t worry - the expiration date on the rebate keeps getting pushed back. I bought my 2025 SR in March and the expiry on the rebate was 3/31 at that time.

My sales person is telling me essentially the same thing.
In the Terms and Conditions there is nothing about “must take delivery by” or anything like that. There’s got to be others wondering how this plays out as the offer nears expiration.
Thing is, the $3,000 offer will end at some point.

It's my understanding that you get the Customer Cash rebate if you pay cash for the vehicle. If you finance then it's not available.

It has nothing to do with paying cash for a vehicle.
It is simply another name for a rebate.

Car dealers don't want customers to pay cash for vehicles, they make money on financing.
Why on earth would they 'reward' buyers for paying with cash?

Easy Partner. I said it was my understanding. That's what the salesman told me when I bought my Tundra when I asked about the customer cash.

Currently, You can get the 1.99%, 2.99%, or $3,000. Can’t get both low rate and $3,000.
Low rate is from Toyota. You can bring your own financing (at current interest rates) and get the $3,000.
    Can’t get Toyota’s low rate and $3,000.
My dealer doesn’t seem to care how it’s paid for.

As far as I know the “reward” isn’t from the dealer, it’s from Toyota.

You need to reread my post Sir.
I never stated the dealer was rewarding anyone.
In fact, I stated 'why would they?'.

The point is that 'Customer Cash' has nothing to do with paying cash for the vehicle, as @4x Taco Owner stated/guessed/was told by car salesman.

Dealerships offer whatever rebates Toyota is running at a given time.
Is this your first new vehicle purchase?

Dude, maybe you should re-read your own post. Spaghetti logic there.
@4x Taco Owner said “pay cash, get rebate, use Toyota low interest rate financing, no rebate.”

You say “why would they (dealer, they?) reward you with cash?” When we already know the cash comes from Toyota, not dealer.
Not first new vehicle (or 2nd, or 3rd, or 4th, …), and not first time dealing with internet people looking for an excuse to get all hot and bothered.

Sounds like good information to gather from the dealership before signing papers and walking out of there…

^^^ Ain’t no purchase happening if the $3,000 goes away!
    :)

It’ll be interesting to see what happens. Don’t “need” to buy.

Dealers prefer if you do the $3000 off rather than the low interest rate. I just purchased mine last month and used the rebate vs the interest rate….the dealer then adds the $3000 to the money down and then they get the $3000 on the spot…vs a loan taking 4 or 5 years to pay and that will go to Toyota finance. I’m not sure how it’s factored in but that’s what they prefer. You should be good with that deal….it has been offered for over 6 months now with no end in sight.

    Which isn't true.
The rebate has nothing to do with paying cash.
Read the words posted, not the words you want to see between the lines.

The dealer 'reward with cash' was a hypothetical scenario.
Hence the fictional 'why would they?' making a point that the rebate isn't about paying with cash.

The only two hot and bothered are you and your triggered buddy.
I hope your sale goes through and you get the maximum extended warranty available.
You're going to need it with the daily, sometimes hourly, posts on the Gen 3 problems..

Welcome to the forum and enjoy your weekend..

Yep the cash rebate is an either/or offer. You don’t get the special interest rates AND the cash rebate. Additionally, dealerships are much less willing to negotiate off of sticker price with the cash back promotions. They make their money one way or the other.

End of Story. Do the math yourself.

Bring your own financing? Take the customer cash.
Cant get better than 1.99% from a bank? Take the financing.

Look around nationally, some dealers are offering $7k-10k off without customer cash, and you can still use Toyota incentive financing.

I got around $8k off + 1.99% back in March.

It amazes me when someone comes in and gives bad information, gets corrected, and then becomes offended for being told they're providing bad information... :frusty:

'Hey man... I said it was my understanding'. Or, in other words, 'I'm just going to throw some random shit out there; may not be remotely factual, but because I attach a disclaimer to it, everyone should just read it, digest it, and then confirm or dispel through their own research... but either way, don't correct me'!!!

When I negotiated the price on my 2025 SR in March, I got $2500 off MSRP from the dealer + $3K rebate from Toyota. All dealers in my area (NJ) were offering either $3K rebate and 6.9% financing or no rebate and 2.99% financing. BUT, once the sales manager ran my credit the salesman came back with 8.99% financing through Chase and told me what a great rate the manager got me! I informed the salesman about the 6.9% rate, he was skeptical at first but looked on his rate sheet and said “Yeah, that should be available to you, let me check with the manager” - ultimately came back with a BS story about that rate not being available any more (weird, its listed on their own website, and every other dealer in the area). My credit rating is well over 800 with no defects. I accepted the 8.99% knowing I was going to pay it off on Monday morning.

I checked with Chase Auto directly and they would have given me 6.06%. Dealer was taking 3% for themselves. I got the last laugh - paid the loan in full 2 days later - dealer got nothing since I have to hold the loan for 45 days (or maybes its 90, cant remember) in order for them to get paid.

There were other shenanigans too, both pre- post-sale. Toyota dealers are the worst. Love the truck, hate the dealers.

Yup, I just used the 2.99% for 60 month financing instead of the 3000 cash to buy my truck as they beat my banks by a long shot. The APR or cash deal is set by the Toyota corporation and the dealer has no say in it, just read the small print as it list out the rules. I understand how it can be confusing as some dealers promote it as their deal but it's not. However the dealer I bought mine from had their own discounts that worked my overall price down and gave me a great trade in value on my other vehicle.

If you put money down and have an agreement I wouldn't be concerned with it, worse that can happen is you just void the deal if they're not honorable and walk away.

Yep they pulled 3k rebate in the South east for this quarter. I contacted over 25 dealers in SC,NC,GA. I ended up with 10k off my limited off road and 1.9 apr. after some haggling and weeks of research

I’ll have to look at the paperwork, but about $3000 off sticker plus the $3000 customer cash.

    Hello all,
I’ve been negotiating for couple of days. From my understanding dealership has their own incentive on their vehicle then they tried to give you the 3000k or 1.99 for 48 months. But not both. After negotiating I am on the ropes on a 25 tundra limited 66285 my offer is 59785 including 1.99 apr. is this good?

by the way this is my second tundra. The first tundra I had was a lemon. Toyota bought it back.

My limited stickered for 70xxx, I got 9500 off sticker, plus 500 military rebate for a total of 10k off sticker.

Alittle over 14 percent off. Reddit has a whole theatd on tundra discount. Seems 10 percent off is pretty easy to get, 12 percent is a good deal, anything more then 12 is amazing and normally have to use a form of rebate if applicable.

tell em 58285 or you walk. That right at 12 percent. More then likely can get 13-14 percent with more back and forth and haggling. 12 percent for is solid.

Another thing that will help is wait for the 2 last days of the month. They are gunna wanna hit their sales numbers to get the corporate kickback. Try to find the largest volume dealer you can and work.

When I bought my 23 platinum, I was under the impression it was either low intrest or the rebate. At the end of negotiations I was ready to walk out over $500 less on my trade. The sales guy came back and asked "what if we can also get you a $1500 rebate through Toyota?" I got both 4.25% and $1500 cash back plus the dealer was already $3701 below msrp.
