2nd key fob

Got my notice today. Purchased Tundra in May.

 

You did better than me. I just got notice as well. Purchased in March, truck was built in February.

Received notice in my app today as well. Purchased in June with April build date.

 

Just got my notice yesterday. Purchased back in March. That's weird that my dealer said the same thing, that they would need to order it and it would take a week for it to get there. Wonder if that's common.

 

It's common. FYI, you can get it from any dealer if there's a closer one

Got my notice Saturday, build date of 3/2024 and purchased in April.

 

When making appointment ask to ensure key is at the dealership. They set me up for yesterday. After checking in and waiting they sadly reported appointment was made before key actually arrived. Waiting again…

 

Toyota seems to have a pervasive ‘corporate culture ’ problem at many levels.

Based on both these fob threads and the 10k oil change thread, the dealers treat customers as nuisances. If you dare ask a hard hitting question, like ‘what is the ETA to get the fob in?’ You get no response or spit-in-the-hamburger treatment and to the back of the line you go. Unlike an oil change I cannot program the fob myself.

In the fob case, it seems Corporate may have hung dealers out to dry with releasing all these at once… that corporate culture thing.

I can’t get a straight answer but I think the dealers have fobs in stock but cannot take, must get one ‘allocated’ and sent per vin.

Kichiro Toyoda must be turning in his grave. So much for JIT, Kaizen, Lean.

 

Purchased my truck 9/4/24. Called my dealer 10/28 after receiving the notice in my app, parts had to order the fob. They just called back saying that they have received the fob so after confirming that they do have the fob in stock I made an Appt for Tuesday to have it programmed. My dealer is 75 miles away hope I’m not disappointed…

Dealer called yesterday to let me know the new fob was in. I went and picked it up today. The service advisor said it took 4 or 5 tries to get it programmed.

 

Got my 2nd fob today and I purchased my truck mid July so about 3 and a half months. I'm just glad to have the second one because I was kinda paranoid about losing the only one I had.

 

Went in today to go pick up my 2nd key fob after scheduling an appointment. Had to wait an hour for them to program it but now I finally have it after waiting 8 months.

 

I had to call my salesman who finally discovered my key is now there. I go Wednesday to get programmed. I’ll let you know….

 

Bought the truck in May. I scheduled my first 6 month service and asked about the fob and the service writer said he would check on it. He called back the same day to tell me it would be available when I brought it in for service.

A couple of days later I got the service bulletin notice in the toyota app.

But it was indeed there so I'm pretty happy that it's no longer something I have to wonder about.

 

Big day, lol. At the dealer now for my second fob. Purchased in June.

 

Waited 1hr 45min but I have a 2nd fob programmed for my truck…

 

Waited an hour. No biggie. Actually missed my appointment yesterday. They sent the appointment to my wife’s email, lol. Called them this morning and they said bring it by.

 

Planning to get mine done on my 10k service. I'm going to call them beforehand to make sure the key is in stock based on what everyone is saying.

 

I got my notification through the app the other day. I need to setup an appointment.

 

If you haven't already done so, call them and have them order it. From what I've read here and my own experience, the dealer doesn't stock them and have them ready for when you show up for a different service.

Mid-March delivery / pickup.
Received 2nd FOB November 7.
8 months

When I received notification in the app the service campaign had the key available, I called my dealer's Parts department to confirm they had the fob. They had to order it in and it was to be received the next day. I had the Parts department inform the Service department the fob was coming and then I spoke with Service to schedule the appointment to pickup the fob. I did not want to rely on Service to get the part and I wanted to make sure the two departments were connected.

 

Best way to do it. Finally got mine, took about one hour. Thanks.

 

Bought mine end of August and will be picking my 2nd key fob up on Monday. My dealer has been really good with anything I've had going on.

I was going to be out of town a few weeks so let it play out without the babysitting. You guessed it, I never even got a call the fob was in. Lol.
However, after verifying it was in I now have my second fob!!!!
Does anyone know their Accounts Payable address? I want to send them a bill for the 4 hours of my time they wasted.
