So I ordered new Ridge Grapplers in 285/70/18 which is what I am currently running. They have not arrived at Discount yet. My neighbor and I were talking about tires the other day and he said I should go wider because mine looked too narrow with my lift. The only thing I saw was a 305/65/18. The only difference that I saw on Nitto was that the 305 is heavier and about a 1/2 inch wider. I am on a 0 offset so I don't know how that would turn out. I'm sure it would burn more fuel though due to the weight.

305/65 looks very big in person despite not being that much taller. They look better, but you have weight and 80mm total more of tire resistance with the road which adds to drag

So you think it's best to keep 285's or would it look alot more aggressive with the 305's? I talked to Toytec and he said it would fit fine with the 0 offset. I just think my truck looks a little taller than the 2013 did with the same lift package on it.

There is a DC tundra down the road from me, he runs 305/65 on stock rims and i drive by. I think its a perfect size for not being overly tall. Imo width looks better than a tiny bit more height

now the chart you listed, i would never run an F rated tire.

Ahhhh...yeah....the 305 is 12 ply. I was looking at the 295/70 but it's really not noticeably any bigger than the 285.

295/70 is way bigger visually than 285/70 imo.

wow, ditto on the F load. E is too much for our 1/2 tons and I cant imaging going to an even higher load rating, but E is what I have because that is all that was available in the size I wanted.

Discount tire can be funny about mounting sometimes- that 305 shows a 9 inch rim minimum....so they may offer some static about that mounting on stock rims . Or they may not notice and let it ride. My concern is the F load rating and 10lbs more per tire. Not enough difference in width/height to justify the F load and weight. And if the 305s were more expensive, that would be strike 3. Bottom line, I do not see the 305s offering any benefit vs what you ordered.

Yeah I ordered the same 285 RG's that I have now. I don't see any size difference with the 295 RG's vs the 285's by looking at the specs at Nitto. They are 10 lbs heavier and only about 3/8 inch bigger. Noone on here seems to have side by side comparison pics of the two.

I am stuck between 285/70/18 and 295/70/18 but based on the 10 additional pounds per tire, i think i will go with 285/70/18.

But those BFG KO2 305/65/18 tires are looking pretty good, and only a few lbs. more...

imo it depends on what wheel you have. 285/70 doesn’t look that much bigger than stock on an OE wheel. On an 18x9 it looks good

295/70 looks far bigger imo, but the weight savings is worth it with the right wheel

Went with Method NV305 18x9 wheels, and pulled the trigger on a set of Nitto RG 285/70/18 tires yesterday.
