Hey everyone, new here, first post…..

Went to a dealership last Thursday to put a $500 deposit down and do an order on a new Tundra. When I say “order” mainly just to select colors and minor features. What I chose was a 22 Tundra 1794 4x4. Anyway…. got a call Friday saying Toyota accepted the order and it has a build date of March 29.

Any idea on how long the trucks are tracking currently to be completed?

Forgot to mention I drive a 15’ tundra crewmax 4x4 that I love. Simply looking to upgrade and have a decently fuel efficient ride

Wow thats great that you got a build date all ready. I put my order in 6weeks a go and was told it would be at least 6 months before I see the truck. Good luck to you. And by the way welcome to the forum

For my '21, the build date was August 26th and I picked up the truck 28 days later. I don't believe there were any delays for port installed options but truck driver shortages may have added a week to my wait. Did you get a temporary VIN?

Mine was pushed back 3x for a delay of a little more than 3 1/2 weeks. Once it was built though I got it 2 days earlier than they said.

Took about 3 weeks after the build before it arrived at my dealer.

Also got a 1794 with the TRD off-road package and love it so far. Good luck and congrats!

I was a little earlier in the game, so times are different, but I put a deposit down Nov 1, started build Dec 21, Shipped Jan 10, arrived at dealer Jan 28. The transit was ridiculous, it was said to have moved from train to truck but then sat at the railyard almost two weeks! My dealer told me the current wait time here is guessed to be 3-4 months at least, possibly longer. I can't believe yours is moving that fast. Just mentally prepare for delays; I believe I was given 3-4 build start dates and at least five changes to the dealer arrival date. Congrats!

Any idea why you got your build date so fast? I put my order deposit down 5 weeks ago and was told 6-9 months. I asked after 2 weeks and was told I was #8 on the Crewmax allocation waitlist. I checked back after 4 weeks and had not moved, still #8. Dealer told me they get/assign allocations every 2 weeks and it might be a few cycles before mine gets in.

Congrats. I put an order in for 1794 TRD OR in January and was told 6-9 months as well. I'm first on the dealer's list for a 1794.

With that kind of wait you might as well just hunt one down your self or better yet buy a 23

Update and to answer a few questions:

Put down the $500 deposit late last week. Toyota accepted the order last Friday.
Build date is March 26, 2022. The order is in, I received the spec sheet of the build with VIN number.

From what I understand dealerships that have the "new system" get orders in more consistently. Also, to put an order in for say a 1794, the dealership has to have an equivalent allocation (in this case a 1794) to swap for the special order build. It think its technically called an SOVR, special order vehicle request. It so happened the dealership had all of this and I was the only one putting in for one.

My build date was 17FEB, and it is supposed to be at the dealership within the next couple of days (ETA 09MAR-14MAR). FYI I am located in northern Utah.

My build date is Feb 15th for a Platinum being delivered to Canada. Expected to arrive April 14-24. Not sure why it is taking so long.

I contacted a dealer on February 11, 2022 about a truck that was on their website. Unfortunately it was already sold but did tell them what I wanted 22 MGM Platinum 2wd and to be looking out for one. Got a call on February 19th that one was being allocated to them. I put the deposit down on that truck. On February 24th I asked when the build date and expected delivery date would be. I wasn't told the build date but was told delivery date would be March 10th. I got a call March 4th and was told truck had came in. I picked it up the next day and had all the paperwork done online besides signing the papers. I did drive 2hrs to get it but it was hassle free and no market adjustment, only a $995 package which includes window tint, nitrogen, and a 6 month protection package. If your in the Oklahoma City area look up Andre Head @ Post Oak Toyota

Am I confused here? Since when does Toyota do orders? They do allocations and you get what your dealer has. I suspect OP is being led by the nose.

Maybe poor terminology. I put deposit down on Feb 1 for the truck build I wanted, and haven’t heard a thing since

No, I think your dealer told you what you said. I just think they are lying. Our local one does it too, has an entire webpage dedicated to "placing your custom order" I called them out badly on it. Not trying to be a downer, just hate dealers. The new truck should be very nice

No orders from Toyota, you can request what you want in a truck and they will find one being built closest to it. That's why ETAs are so sporadic it really is luck of the draw.

Sorry buy you are completely wrong about the process. I don't know about other regions but here is how it works in ours (CAT). 2 times a month we get an allocation where we are told which cars we are going to get. The one at the beginning of the month is a bigger one and theres a smaller one around the 15th. We are able to change anything on a car as long as its within a couple days of allocation. So if someone wants a red tundra with specific accessories it can easily be made. Not sure where you got your information that you can't custom order a car

    Welcome.

BTW accessories and port installed options are not "ordering" a truck...

Sorry to say this, but enjoy your disappointment and wasted money.

You just started the process to throw away your money for a downgraded "truck".
You will get a longer bed, bigger more useless sunroof, and lockers, with barely any mpg improvement.

All it will cost you is much more money, reduced interior space, reduced reliability, poor interior lighting, no tow hooks, recycled plastic garbage bed, lower ground clearance, possible recall issues, and some other stuff I forget now....
Then if you keep it past the warranty, enjoy the $10k per turbo replacement costs at some point.

But if that makes you happy, you do you ;)

It is still called a Toyota after all
