Wondering if someone here could confirm the oil filter wrench size for the 22 Tundra.

Did see on here someone said it was a 46mm but when I look on Amazon to purchase only 64mm sizes show up.

Want to change the oil with my neighbor’s help at 1,000 miles for the break in.

Embarrassed to say it would be my 1st time doing an oil change. Purchased the 15mm by 20mm hose today from Amazon and the filter/gasket today from my local Toyota dealer.

Also would it matter if I bought the 0w20 Mobile 1 synthetic at a local auto parts store/Walmart or is it best to buy the oil from Toyota?

    Thanks to all in advance!

I can't speak to the wrench size, but as far as the oil, as long as you're using a good quality oil of the correct viscosity, you'll be fine.

I don't know if it applies to synthetics, but I was told by a mechanic a long time ago, if you're up north, go with Penzoil. If you're down south, go with Castrol.

I just used a oil filter pliers from harbor freight to change my oil filter. You can get them any auto part store. Or get one of them oil filter wrench claw type. They work fine too to get it off.

but if you really want to use a oil filter cap. Here is the OE part# for the tool. Unsure what size it is.

Lots of different filter wrench types... metal strap, nylon strap, cap type, pliers, spring loaded universal claw (only works for removal) etc... I have all of these. LOL.

Then there are oil filters like K&N that have a nut welded onto the casing to turn it from. These are the very easiest to deal with IMO. I am not sure what wrench fits on the new Tundra OEM filter but it helps to have multiple types of wrenches in case you run into issues. Since this is your first ever oil change one issue you should be aware of is that sometimes the factory overtightens them and they can be a real bear to get off. Just try to be prepared for that. If this is the case the cap stye wrenches usually won't grip well enough to get them off without slipping. Then you need a plan B. And don't repeat their mistake when you install the new one. And another minor point: if you get the correct cap for the factory filter it will not necessarily fit an aftermarket filter.

The other thing is that Mobil 1 usually has rebates. Look online for that. For the best overall price I get mine at WalMart then submit the rebate. Or you can also get it online and delivered from many sources and use the rebate. Other synths will also work fine.

    Good luck.
