So my 22 Platinum was at the dealership for the last week due to the motor and regular for the window breaking and all the parts being backordered (design flaw?) Anyway, they were good enough to loan me a 24 SR5 while waiting (the window was stuck down and it was polar vortex time in the Midwest.)

I’ve noticed some interesting differences between the 2 trucks. First, the acceleration in the 24 is incredibly smooth compared to my 22 which is pretty jumpy and far from smooth. I thought that was just how the truck/turbocharger was or how I was driving but now I wonder if it’s due to the recall. My truck is on the recall list but hasn’t been replaced yet. Will my truck drive smoothly like this once the engine is replaced?

I also noticed that the lower steering wheel buttons are much more solid in the 24. On mine, the volume and change track buttons are loose and a little squirrelly.

Those are the things I’ve noticed so far. I wonder what else has improved?

Someone who had their engine replaced said that his truck was a lot smoother with the new engine .

Hopefully new engine will help to improve our 2022 liftchair like acceleration. However we still have the old transmission... Most likely with the old sloppy programing

I had recall completed two weeks ago and my 22 drives noticeably different with the 25 motor in it. Pedal lag is gone, it is smoother and pulls a lot stronger from a dead stop. Like it is noticeable quicker. I’m guessing they downloaded new computer parameters when they installed new motor. Transmission even shifts better. I haven’t run it over 3000 rpm yet but have done a few moderately quick 1/5th throttle starts and it breaks the tires loose when I wasn’t trying to. Only have 120 miles on new motor so not pushing it too hard during break in.

That’s great news! They just told me today that they will have my new engine in early February!

I went from a 22 SR5 TRD to a 24 Limited Hybrid and for me personally it was a great choice. Everything felt much better from the interior to the ride quality. This was before the widespread engine replacement recall so the dealership gave me a great deal on my trade.

I guess it’s good news that they are improving it each year!

I considered a trade-in for a 2025 a few weeks ago but since my truck is on the recall list, they low-balled me on the trade in offer.

Why Toyota can’t flash the ECUs of the 22’s to fix the throttle issue on a voluntary stop-in basis is beyond comprehension. Guess their Service plate is full.

There is no issue as far as Toyota is concerned. Nobody can reproduce it
