Hello all new here with my 22 platinum (1000 miles). and I seem to have this knocking thud sound when hitting bumps coming from my rear seat back window sliding area. Any one else experiencing this alsmot sounds like a window motor hitting against the inside of the rear compartment or in that general area. It's alot worse when the rear sliding window is all the way closed to. Any tips ?

It's your tailgate bouncing around. Next time you pass a bump look at your tailgate and you'll see it fumble around.

Brand new truck, have the dealer check it. If you have the air suspension, it could be bottoming out in the rear, several have had that and rough ride and they adjusted the rear air suspension so it is not longer hitting the bump stops.

I'll ask the dealership once I have a chance. Could be on how light the tailgate is...but that's just a theory. I'll look around for anything missing like plastic shims or bumper stops.

Put a felt bad where the rear tailgate bumpers are and it should fix it- the stock ones are too short

Check your jack under the rear seat. Make sure it's locked down.

Wow that sounds awful, mine has a small clunk and you can clearly see it bounce after hitting a speed bump.

Just the tailgate bounces around. It looks improperly installed. With the tailgate down it does indeed have a lot of play when pulled/pushed on RHS.

They replaced both hinges on the tailgate already and it really didn't tighten it up. I asked that they remove the tailgate and drive it but they do not want to do that. The dealer is claiming that its very difficult to do for whatever reason.

Now in its 3rd week at the dealer they cant seem to figure it out. They are unsure if this is a potential safety issue or just a simple noise. I reached out to Toyota and now I have a case manager involved. Hopefully this will help.

Try the felt furniture pad! I’m away on business but it’s an easy attempt to fix the issue

Friday update. They removed the tailgate and took it for a spin. That didn't work. They added felt between the bed and the frame to isolate the bed...Nope. Now the factory is instructing the dealer to do the same for the cab. If the cab isolation doesn't work then Toyota is going to send a second factory tech to try to figure this out.

Figured so but thought I'd throw it out there. Good luck on them finding the source of the noise. These kind of things drive me nuts.

i have read the string. have a 22 Tundra Platinum with 2000 miles. i hear the thud as well, one single bump that sounds mostly like i have bottomed out when i hit a bump. i tried to put the suspension in HI and that seemed to help - but not sure it stays in HI because dash often says it goes back to N (normal). makes me think the shocks or suspension are too soft??? haven't yet tried the felt between bed and frame but can't believe that's it... really feels and sounds like a bottom out. a little discouraged at this - waited so long, paid alot (only about $800 over MSRP)

Hey guys, I have a 2022 Limited 4x4 with the TRD off-road package. So no air suspension. And have the exact same issue. Sounds like bed creaking or suspension. Can imitate the sound by pressing down anywhere in the rear of the vehicle. And very noisy over bumps. Will take it into the dealer and see what’s up. I just met someone who told me their brother lemoned the truck after it stayed at the dealer for 3 months with no resolution. He had the option for full refund or take 50k and keep the truck.
