I have 2021 with about 13k and I have been experiencing a clunk/jolt under light acceleration for a while now. I don't know if it is getting worse or I just finally figured out how to recreate it. The clunk usually only happens when I'm coasting to slow down and RPMs drop just below 1k at around 25mph. If at that point I lightly accelerate there is a clunk/jolt as the truck gets back into the gear it wants. It is enough for the truck to shake. I know this is kind of specific but this situation actually happens quite a bit on my commute when I'm slowing down for a red light and then I lightly accelerate when it turns green. This usually doesn't happen if I accelerate harder and it also doesn't happen every time under these exact same circumstances which is why I'm a little confused. I had a '20 Tundra before this and never noticed it. I don't really think it is normal but I wanted to get some feedback if anybody else has experienced this. This same sensation has been felt while going up steep hills as well when going about 5mph and lightly accelerating.

Can't say I have noticed any issues, but I don't mess around behind the wheel either. Go means go in my opinion and I tend to look ahead one or two intersections and try to adjust in order to hit lights green if at all possible. Not always possible but much more often than not it is if one knows the areas and traffic light patterns. Maybe you should take it in and have it documented at the very least. Then if something comes up later....

I would say not normal. Whenever I have had a vehicle that did something similar it was always the driveshaft or something in the driveline not being lubed.

Never had an issue in my 2016 Tundra, but if I forget to lube the driveshaft zerks for too long on my 06 4Runner, I will get that thump and feeling of slack and catchup in the driveline like you. I do not think the 2021s have zerks anymore in the driveline (sealed units), so it would be something for the dealer to look at.

Apologies for the resurrection, but looks like I'm experiencing the exact same thing too. Was in 2 hours of stop and go traffic with constant throttle off / on at 25mph and it was a terrible amount of clunking / slight jolting, only when I was off the gas long enough for the RPMs to drop to 1K. @Idahoguy1911 were you ever able to figure out if this is normal?

From the digging I could do, it also looks like this thread from last year (https://www.tundras.com/threads/gas-saving-mode-at-25mph.75701/) has the same situation, but the dealer in the end gave the response we all expected.

Just rolled past 12K on my 2021 today. I do have a transmission cooler installed so I am hesitant to bring it in if I don't need to...

Exactly what I'm experiencing with my 21. 5400 miles currently but doing it since new. Thanks for the good description.

I had taken it into the dealer for the second time after I thought I was able to explain it a little better. They still said that it was shifting normal. It seems to be a little worse now so I might take it back in when I have some time to go on a drive with a tech.

    Good evening,

I was wondering if any of you guys ever got to the bottom of this one. I have a 2021 Sequoia and have similar issues. It seems to be less when I control the gear it is allowed to go into (running in 3 gear when at slow speeds) Always had a 5 speed transmission wondering if this has something to do with the 6speed

    None....
I have had this clunk since truck was new. Now got 83k on it. Seems like rear end play. In gears. But i thinks it's normal.
