So, nothing earth-shattering, but a few smart improvements.
Big fuel tank and tow hitch with 7/4 pin across the board.

Still no (standard) tow hooks. :(

Standard Tow Hooks won't come until the refresh once all the safety data is available.

Still on TSS 2.5... I guess 3.x won't come until the refresh? That's too bad. Even considering the other updates, I'd change the title from "A bold new chapter" to "A slightly edited chapter".

Edit: I see from the other thread that 3.0 will come with the refresh... and the refresh looks to be pushed to 2028. Good grief.

Not that I'd trade my '25 for a '26, but this is the real tragedy. 3.0 (at least for Lexus) gives you the remote start that doesn't die when you unlock the vehicle.

Any pricing updates? I noticed you can build a price on some 2026 Toyota models on their website but not the Tundra.

It's around a 1% increase on Limited and up and slightly higher on the lower trims from an image posted elsewhere... At least from my memory of this morning

That really is what I hate on my rig. Remote start isn't really usable. I have explored aftermarket but they all require cutting and splicing which I'm not a fan of.

Anyone think there's any possibility to reprogram or whatever to use the 3.0 update on the 2.5??? I don't know how TSS really works. Probably a long shot.

The Wave Maker color really interests me. I like it, and I think this would look great on the beach but not sure how it would look in a parking lot lol. Would also like to see if the color tone differs in certain lighting.

Not likely from what I've been told about 3.0 on my wife's Lexus. The cameras are different...they're wider angle to pick up more side (over the front fenders) view. The Lexus knows when someone is drifting into your lane and will take steps to avoid. I think that kind of difference alone would make it unlikely you can "firmware upgrade" a 2.5(+) to a 3.X system.

Thanks for sharing. I wonder if it could be a software update for just the remote start feature that Toyota could do? Even if it was, don’t think they would do it.

From how I understand the aftermarket ones, there are a couple wires that you cut and splice into and think that’s for the takeover function to not have the truck shut off.

Doing away with the smaller fuel tank and making the trailer hitch standard are good moves. Just to simply configurations for manufacturing.

But it is time for a refresh for sure. New paint colors can only keep the flag flying for so long

The Toyota inventory search tool is finding 2026 incomings for the dealers in our area.

Indeed. I was almost making peace with the refresh taking until 2027. Now 2028? To borrow a term from slow golf play, while we're young, Toyota. Even though many of us aren't.

Either way I'm sure it'll be faster than the 5th Gen 4Runner update... I remember buying my 2018 in Sept. '18 and everyone saying "2018 will be the last year of this body style". That story went on for six more years before they actually updated it

Maybe dump the seat and figure out the engine issue once and for all.

By the way, I like the color :anonymous:, if I lived on the beach, I'd be all in. But everywhere else, it just doesn't seem like it would fit.

Indeed. I was a long time 2nd gen 2009 Tacoma owner and wanted a new one but after I drove the 3rg gen I knew I could not live with that lame powertrain. So I waited for the 4th gen. And waited, and waited... and waited. Finally gave up and got the 2023 Tundra.

Yeah that wave maker color is ugly! Voodoo blue is way better and is definitely more male friendly for sure. Order of worst colors: 1. Electric lime. 2. Wave Maker. 3. Terra. Toyota needs to bring back cement and other past colors!

I feel like I live at the gas station. Whoever at Toyota thought it was a good idea to put as small of a tank in this truck should be slapped with a fish.
