Yup....everyone complains about it but the dealers always say nothing is wrong.

suspect it's just the speed of the throttle valve . Have seen some have things like peddle commander, sprint booster or others to speed up or slow it down. Wonder if putting it in sport mode would make a difference in how fast it opens? P.S. Not even sure if I'm anywhere near base on this. Just a thought.

Have to drive in sport mode. Turning left across traffic is a death trap when it won’t move.

Not everyone, just a very vocal minority. Many of us have never experienced any throttle lag.

I've only experienced it two or three times, pretty sure I was in eco or normal mode, mine's a 24 hybrid with just 4,800 miles. Of course the one time it did that I was cutting it close enough as I was making a left. Waived sorry to the other driver while they were slamming on their brakes and laying on the horn. You learn quickly that even if your truck is running perfectly taking the chance isn't worth saving 20 seconds.

To answer one of your questions, Nothing to do with the transmission at all. Lack of throttle response for numerous possible reasons. And it’s nothing to do with Turbo Lag as you’ll hear.

Enjoy... No solution yet, although very few that had their long block replaced under the recall seem to report improved response

FWIW, mine had the lag as well. As I’ve driven it, either it’s improved or I’ve understood how far to push or when to begin accelerating. It’s hard to tell if anything has improved on its own (probably not likely). I think I’ve just learned this throttle better. I came from a 2nd gen Tacoma, so very different..

Mine has never once "done nothing" at initial throttle application.
I have always had a very slight hesitation from a dead stop, but not rolling. Most noticeable when engine is cold.
Driving in Sport mode cures most of it for me. (With no loss of mpg compared to Normal.)

One other trick that's worked for me I forgot to mention - I put mine in shift "S" mode and go up to 10th gear setting and leave it there. The transmission will still shift through gears like normal but I seem to have less throttle lag and get better gas mileage than driving in normal drive "D" mode on any of the selector modes (normal, sport, eco). I have tested the theory of better gas mileage and the throttle lag help might just be a fluke, don't know.

I believe I do get past 8th gear on the interstate too unlike drive mode. I haven't verified that point yet. It just seems like even when I'm going 80+ on the interstate, the transmission never wants to get over 8th gear for some reason.

Interestingly enough, I found out this trick from a Tundra FB group I'm in and was amazed that it seemed to work.

Mine used to do this. I have a harrowing left turn after work off a busy main street into my neighborhood. On so many occasions, I had to hold my breath and hope because it wasn't EVERY time. If I punched it too hard, the truck would squeal as the tires rotated under the torque or just not turn at all. I got fed up and just installed a pedal commander. Not a single issue since. The peace of mind alone knowing I wont cause an accident is worth the purchase price. I know there are some bad stories about pedal commanders out there and that they just change the pedal height response but I would have it floored in some cases before and the truck just sits there like I'm not doing anything. Such a pain and unsafe to boot.
