    Good aftenoon,
Thank you for allowing me to post on your site. I recently ungraded my 2007 Tundra to the same model in 2024. The only difference is the 2007 had the double cab, the 2024 has the Crewmax. I now have about 1500 miles on it. Right off the lot, I noticed a lot of noise coming from the box when driving over potholes or rough roads at 40 or less. For lack of a better description, I would say its a clunking noise, something loose, and is even more noticable when I run over a longer patch of rough road. I brought it back to the dealer where they road tested it, and agreed that the sound was unusual. After 4 days with Toyota and after replacing a shock assembly, they have not been able to find this issue. The dealership claims that they have removed the tailgate and road tested, and have eliminated the tailgate as a possible cause. I still have my 2007 and it has no noise from the box. Has anyone else experienced this? I searched the previous threads here and could not find a similar topic, so I assume not.
    Thank you,
    g

Can you describe the noise? We’ve seen a bunch of low mileage transmission replacements on these new trucks due to a ticking/clicking noise.

Well, the transmission seems fine, so I don't suspect that. If I am on smooth roads its nice and quite. When I am on a rough parch of road, or over potholes, I get the sound. To be honest, I would have expected that they would have found something loose that holds to box to the frame. With smaller bumps its more of an annoying rattle, when I hit bigger bumps or manhole covers it is much more a a jarring sound, like the box is loose. And it can be quite loud if I get the right combination of potholes.
Sorry, not sure how else to describe it.

Thanks for this. I will give some of these fixes a try. I would say that my issue is more of a bang than a rattle, but you nerver know.

    Welcome from NY.

Some have found it to be the rear hydraulic cab mounts. Once replaced, said the clunking went away.

Well. I took a video today to send to the dealership. If you watch at 33 seconds, 1:10, 1:14, 1:26 and 1:35 you will see what I am referring to. This is on the streets of my neighbourhood..... While the roads could be improved, they are not that bad :)

If I were you, I’d pull the tailgate and do another lap. Sure seems to be the source.

Yup, thats what I'm thinking as well, although the dealership said that tried that.

Well, it took better than three months to fix the issue, but as @donia predicted, it was the cab mounts. The dealer found that the mounts had not been properly torqued and this led to them loosening and then being damaged to the point that one was leaking. This was an issue from the factory. The truck had ~1600 miles on it. Here are some pictures provided by the dealer. They replaced all the mounts, and all is good.
