    Hi

I have a 2024 TRD Pro iForce Max. I am building a tow behind RV and working on the power system. To efficiently charge the RV's lithium battery (the 7-pin tow connection is not efficient) I will be adding a DC-DC charger that connects to the truck's battery. As a rule of thumb the truck's alternator should be at least twice the current rating of the DC-DC converter. For example, if installing a 40 Amp DC-DC converter your alternator should be at least 80 Amps.

It is my understanding that this hybrid truck does not have an alternator. I believe the truck's battery gets charged from the inverter. I need to know the power rating (amps) of the inverter so that I can make sure I get the correct DC-DC converter so I don't damage my truck's battery.

Does anyone have any specs for the inverter or experience with this when it comes to charging a lithium battery for an RV?

    Thanks in advance,

    Jeff

Jeff, you know if you do this your warranty will be instantly voided on the hybrid system and anything electrical, right? I would get an ecoflow system of some type just my 2 cents...

@ryanwgregg Thanks for the information as that is helpful. Where did you get that information as I cannot find anything online? Based on that, using a 40A DC-DC charger should be okay and not damage the Tundra's battery system?

Maybe I am completely wrong but can’t you put a Vectron Ip22 charger to your bed truck plug ?

What exactly do you mean by stating the 7-pin plug is not “efficient”?
