First post since my intro a few months ago. Thought I'd give some feedback on my 2024 SR5 2WD I purchased mid January. Coming from a Gen2 I definitely miss the 5.7 but so far so good with the new model. Just the familiar minor things like difficulty reading the 0W20/dipstick, slight acceleration hesitation around 30mph and a periodic whistling noise coming from the vents. I did a break-in oil change around 780 miles just before my first boat tow. It pulls my 22' center console very well (dry weight 2700lb/estimated 4500lb loaded). My usual tow is only around 7 miles with 45mph speed limit so definitely not tasking.

Just did my 2nd break-in oil change just shy of 3k miles. Same overall feedback regarding the oil pressure gauge. My first oil change I measured roughly 7.7q and ended up removing just a little the next day with the oil pressure gauge getting above 3/4 at warmup and staying around half and slightly above after warmup. Seemed a bit high after reading a bunch of posts. This time I measured about 7.3q and it seems to be the sweet spot with the pressure at 3/4 during warmup and bit above 1/3 after warmup and normal driving. The oil changes are much easier in my opinion vs the older gens since I don't have to mess with the skid plate on mine.

It will be interesting to see how these twin turbo v6s age. I sure hope we don't start seeing a lot of failures and turbo issues. Sure wish they used a modernized gen1 size engine instead but hopefully these prove to be reliable in time. Anyway, just wanted to give my 4 month feedback.

Question - any protectant recommendations for the plastic trim parts? I may try Formula 303 but I'm not up to date with the latest and greatest products.

    thanks

Good writeup. Keep posting periodic updates.

Ford has been putting them in Trucks since 2011 and many got to high mileage with proper maintenance. Although the last few years has seen Ford have many reliability issues.

I do hope Toyota is the reliability king they have been. If not someone else will take their customers.

The HVAC on my SR5 does something similar to a small whistling noise when the AC is on. It's very quiet and the whistling noise only appears when the vents are venting small amounts of air.

I think what happens is that when the cabin is close to the setpoint temperature, the HVAC still needs to use sensors to sample the cabin air, so it briefly turns on the blower. It does that periodically and can be perceived as a quiet whistle.
