image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Looking for some advice on caps for my 2023 tundra. I paid over 3k for this cap on my tundra and i really couldnt be any more disappointed with the fitment. It looks like it was built for a completely different truck. The right latch doesnt even shut fully. Im hoping someone knows of a good cap brand i can go to for a color matched cap that actually fits and is actually waterproof!!! Any help is appreciated! It seems like A.R.E is not a good brand for fitment. I would at LEAST like a cap that lines up with my trucks body lines….

So sorry this happened to you. I also have an Arny Green Tundra long bed, you even paid extra for the color match (which looks great BTW). Have you reached to ARE? They may go out of their way to make it right. You may even have been delivered the wrong part #.

I’ve been watching smartcaps for a while but I don’t like the #s of reports from users with leak issues, as well as a recall (of latches) where windows can fly up on their own while driving. I’m still interested in them though. Seems that LEER is really solid for our trucks.

Oh gosh i hope that doesn't happen to mine and im definitely happy with the paint match its spot on, a little swirly if you get close in the light though, could have been buffed a little more. The dealer is contacting A.R.E to resolve all of this but it still leaves me out a truck cap…. And out of the camping trips i had planned for the spring. (It took them 6 weeks to build and install it after i purchased it) and A.R.E is taking about a full week between each email response. So im definitely not surprised by all the negative reviews…. I screwed up half my spring plans by trusting A.R.E

Long story short: i need a color matched bed cap for the 2023 tundra that lines up with the truck bed nicely

I wonder if your dealer’s installation is at fault. I think they should reinstall it, even it out and use 3M waterproof adhesive foam between the mating surfaces. Tell them to fix the right latch that doesn’t close. This is absolutely unacceptable. You need to let them know your travel schedule and when you absolutely must have your topper functional.

One week reply time from ARE is an insult. You should call them directly don’t only rely on your dealer. Kick both of them in the ass until you get your awesome new topper GTG. Other than the fit I have to say that the design is pretty cool and the color match looks awesome. Good luck and keep us posted.

You can adjust the fitment if it's not aligned correctly, just loosen the bolts and if you stand up in the bed with the cap on your back you can shift it til you get it where you want. Also the latches need to type e adjusted to get them perfect, sit in your truck with the bed down and the window to the cap shut and just adjust them til it's right. I had to do the same with my Leer.

I can slide my fingers under it like in the photo above on both sides, its awkwardly too wide for the truck bed. And i adjusted the latch as far out as it can go, the shop told me the only way to get it to latch was to shift the cap backwards even more than it already is. Its because the window sits against the back of the tailgate rather than the top of it. Not designed very well in my opinion… in the bottom close up photo of the rear, you can actually see clean through to the inside of the bed because of a huge gap in the weather stripping
