looking for a Tonneau covers for a 2023 TRD PRO. love your thoughts on hard vs soft. I had a linex hard cover for my 2020, but it didn't hold up.

I prefer hard cover for increased security. I had the Toyota OEM cover on mine. It was ok. It can be easily broken into using a coat hanger if you know the covers and where the latch wire is. I found it dented easily and the plastic latches are weak. I now have a Bison on my Tacoma. Very similar design to the Extang 2 that sits on top of the bed rails. Not as sleek but I prefer the on top design. Much much less water ingress. Yes you don't have the ability to fold the section up closest to the cab but I don't need it. The Bison is faster to take on and off then factory OEM and at half the price of an Extang and so far seems to be more more durable as it looks to be a much stronger aluminum surface.

thanks. I was on my phone while at the dealer picking it up.

would you attempt to put my linex trifold back on this until I find something else? it's the middle of the winter here in MN... and we are in a snow storm to boot..

I'd stick with the hard covers. The soft covers are a bit cheaper but aren't as rigid. My bak flip mx4 started to leak a tad bit but a couple piece of foam in the corner of the bed stopped the leaking.

I would look into the Bakflip MX4 trifold. I got my second hand for $200 off facebook marketplace.

Install is fairly easy. Its low-profile and if you use your bed a lot, unfolding is quick compared to the clamp style bed covers.

I love my Weathertech Alloy cover. Hard cover. No water gets in, no drain tubes

I put a DiamoundBack SE on my 21 Pro. Locks up... No leaks... no problems. I will never buy a different cover ....ever. Check out their website they have a few different models to choose from. They also have a scratch and dent area. A little pricey, but it will out last the truck.

They don't show a cover for a 23 yet on their website but the 22 cover will most likely work. I'll bet if you call them they will have the answer for ya.

So looking at my bed, they have this rail around it. Would you need to remove it to do any of these covers? Or is it setup for oem cover as is?

This really isn't that difficult. Pick a cover for a '22 or '23 that matches your bed length, read the instructions that come with it, and voila.

Looking at the BAKFlip MX4 Tonneau Cover for example, it shows a bolt that you bolt on, which you can't do with those rails. my old cover has the same bolts, and those rails are in the way. Hence, my question.

ok, they have a install video, in which they remove the rails. so there we go.

No ... you will not need to remove it. It actually needs to stay for the locking rods to slide into. ( I think this an option you need to specify when ordering.... with or without bed rail ) You can't go wrong with this cover. Again, expensive..... but worth every nickel! If you have questions give them a call. Very great people to deal with in my experience with them.

I think the directions said it will take you about 1 1/2 hr to install. Did mine in 45 minutes. ( I did have an extra set of hands to help) The only thing to really worry about is removing the bed rail cover. Be careful, take your time... it really just pops off. Place the stiffeners where they say they need to go....snap back on... install the cover... adjust the rods (very easy ) just follow the directions and you will not have a problem.

I have the truxedo sentry ct on my 2022 pro, very happy with it. Sturdy, low profile, and rolls up out of the way.
