I've had my Tundra for five weeks. Certified Pre Owned with 43K miles on it. I love it, having upgraded from a Tacoma with 270K on it.

I noticed a rattling sound coming from under the truck when idling. The Toyota tech first thought it might be an exhaust busing (or something like that). I dropped it off for them to take a look. Then I got the phonecall -- sounds like it might be coming from the transmission.

Now I'm in wait mode. They are waiting to hear from Toyota Corp to proceed. Do they have to run this by Corporate? Maybe that's how they do things now. It has 43K miles one it; the power train carries a warranty to 60K.

I really don't want to have to shell out $$ for a truck I've had for five weeks!

Seems to be a fairly common problem and there are a fair number of other threads. Since I don't have this issue, I don't have links to them, but you might try a search.

Same with mine. There is a service bulletin about this. Had mine updated and no issue since. Was really noticeably at drivethroughs.

I've had the issue on my '23 as long as I can remember. Sounds like a heat shield rattling against something. It's not constant, but it can be annoying.

Doesn’t certified pre owned come with an additional warranty? Either way as you are covered under warranty. You shouldn’t have to pay anything……SOME dealers will try to get you to pay for a transmission service if that was a recommended service and you haven’t had it done yet.
