For any peeps with the newest style Tundra and have the factory start...is there:

    1. any hack to extend it past 10 minutes?
    2. When you open the door the truck shuts off for anti-theft. Can disable?

Of if you live in the north where the actual ices takes longer than 10 minutes...have you selected to not use the factory remote or go aftermarket??

    Appreciate any feedback in advance!

    Matt

Did a search, and did not find on first pass... my apologies.

Eddie, why not post the answer instead of "do a search"? You literally type out a longer response each time somebody asks. Seems tiresome.

I don't understand, why would you put a cheesy aftermarket anything on a new $60-80k truck, knowing the chances of it causing an issue with the electrical system are high? What is the obsession with remote start? I have it I think but never use it. Are we just that lazy as a society today? Oh well I guess so. I've been in and around the automotive repair industry for 40 years and the biggest culprit of dead batteries, no start condition, weird electrical gremlins and parasitic drains are aftermarket remote starts and alarm systems. just don't do it, for Pete's sake just say no. Don't get me started on puck lifts and limo tint lol...

its to get around the oem restrictions.

    1. remote start can only be done twice, after that you need to unlock, open door, then lock to remote start it again.
    2. remote start can only be done in 10 min cycles
    3. engine shuts off upon door unlock due to TSS 2.5 system

side note, vehicles with TSS 3.0 dont suffer from this shutoff issue

I walk out in –30 degree weather to start my truck. Got my folks in their sixties auto starts for their vehicles and they sure appreciate not having to do the same. Have you never heard of the cold? I’d like an auto start for mine as well. My only qualm is trying to find one with a small pocketable remote. The one I put on my dad’s truck is tiny. The one on my mom’s car is bigger than the original key fob.

I'm 64 my parent's both drove well into their 80's. Never had it. Never missed it. I can appreciate the convenience in below zero temps but for daily use it's just human laziness. I hope you have zero problems. And hope you bought them a good lithium battery jump box that they keep charged and know how to use. That's a modern convenience.

Hey Buzzard, thank you for your service, my father was a retired Marine. I live in NJ but have lived in Flint MI and NOLA (where my dad was the recruiting officer for the state of Louisiana after his Vietnam tours).
I can appreciate the convenience of remote start at -30 but I stand by my statement of aftermarket tapping into a factory wiring harness as begging for electrical issues. Peace out.

What were the most miles your parents had on a single vehicle? Bet if they had remote start they’d had twice as many.
