I used the heater for maybe the third time ever this morning and got a good antifreeze smell again.
I'm in N. Fl. so for the week I've had this truck I've been mostly using AC...It's definitely a hot antifreeze smell, only when the heater core is involved obviously.
I did some searching and a couple of other people complained about this specific smell but said it went away...around 500 miles. I hit 500 on the way to work this morning smelling it :) No outward signs of leaks. The truck did have a variety of smells as it heat cycled during the first week of use but they all had their time and went away.
Hope this smell goes away...may try driving home w/all the glass open and the heat on max to maybe cook it off.
I'm not liking the idea of a local mechanic pulling the dash apart to replace a heater core.

Mine did this for small period but went away. It wasn't overwhelming, but noticable. I'm assuming at some point during assembly process a small amount of coolant is somehow left on the outside of heater core. It didn't start until heater was used for first time. Coolant level never dropped and the smell went away after a few days of driving.

Park it in your driveway, open the windows and crank the heat for 30 minutes. If it does it 3 days later you may have a problem

Welcome to the forum…the smell goes away for most of us though it took closer to 1000 miles on mine.

Mine had it as well when new. I did the run it on high with the windows open for 30 minutes in the driveway one morning technique. It went away.

Thanks for the info folks...I'm up to 1000 miles now and it does seem to be getting a little better. I think it's just that I haven't needed to run the heater enough yet. We will see.

Realize that diesel and turbo gas EGR designs are different, but in diesels passenger heat problems usually mean your EGR system is not functioning correctly. If heat does not function at all then would certainly bring it up to warranty service.
