Want to photo dump the nitty gritty and the closeups of the work done to this truck the last two weeks. Starting small and hoping next year to go more in depth when more parts are available.

Picked up from Bighorn Toyota in Glenwood Springs, CO.

First step was to remove wheels/tires. Turns out 35s fit w/o a lift, so I could get that done and do the Westcott leveling kit later after a week out of town. Small amount of rub on the carpet, didn’t try hard to get rid of it, just pulled the bracket in the rear behind the fender liner.

Went with 17x8.5 Method 316 0mm offset. (More poke than I hoped, but didn’t want to go 18 on this one. Paired with Toyo Open Country AT3. Maybe some thicker flares would do it justice on the offset.

Was working on a job at that shop before we decided to mount them, quick decision to go for it. Got it home that night and decided it reaaaally needed the level. Did the front before flying to GA the next day.

These springs are COMPRESSED. I took the spring compressors off because they were definitely feeling maxed out. Ended up having a buddy bring over two more to help me get these suckers far enough to mount. The tools Westcott uses in their video seem to work really well.

Don’t use red loctite and tighten it up, that sounds like a halfassed way to get it done quicker. Went off the 21 torque specs which everything was very similar to on disassembly.

Got home from GA after 3 days and finished the rear, falling more and more in love with this truck.

Finally got around to the chrome delete this past weekend. Wrapped everything in KPMF matte perfect black. Took a few closeups for the DIY guys on here, wrapped all the chrome without removing anything. Maybe I should give a more thorough write up on the wrap..

A lot of guys out there using APA films for their chrome delete color match. Personal experience, this vinyl destroyed my last truck when removing from the chrome. Bonded so hard that it seperated the chrome playing from the plastic itself. I’d never seen anything like it, but the film itself kinda sucked to work with. Personal experience, maybe I got a bad roll too… either way, said I wouldnt use it again.

Other blacklisted films I wouldn’t recommend:

Arlon (haven’t tested new product, but they only make print film)

Inozetek (looks cool, awful install, don’t trust durability, pulls dust out of your neighbors garage floor)

Vivvid/TeckWrap (same as Inozetek, just feels cheap and like hard plastic)

And last but CERTAINLY not least, 3M 1080/2080. Don’t get me wrong here, 3M makes great colors and a great product. But they are by far more expensive, and require a more thorough installation process. Working on a fleet of 120 wrapped vehicles in 1080 that have all prematurely failed. I would use 2080 for anything per customer request, but it’s my last choice for material. I can give 100 experiences why. Good products, but better options available for less $.

Last thing I did was 25% tint on the front windows. Said I’d never do it again… the last 10 times I did it. Not completely disappointed this round.

Tried tint on the tail lights, medium gloss, wasn’t a fan, so I peeled it. Waiting on chrome garnish and emblem overlays.

I just assumed that a limited was coming with premium headlights and honestly didn’t notice til I got home. It’s irking me. I’ve retrofitted 3 sets of headlights now, and I’m seriously considering splitting these open and painting the satin chrome bar to paint match the truck… talk me out it. Tried tint, looked cheap. Should I?

Thanks for reading, hopefully didn’t bore ya too much. Not a whole lot of info out there yet, but it’s all starting to show up! Holler with questions, I’ll try my hardest.

Great looking truck! I'm personally not a fan of light tinting but I know it's a thing.

I learned a lot from your wrap knowledge, I'm strongly considering getting mine done but have always thought there must be an alternative to 3M. It's tough knowing when you're getting ripped off however.

I’m glad to hear that. A lot of shops use 3M because they started with 3M and they’re a very brand loyal company. My top choices in order are.

    Avery
    KPMF
    Orafol
    3M.

let me know if you have any specific questions!
