I originally owned a 2022 SR5 and absolutely loved it, but it was missing the color (lunar rock) and power softec seats that I really wanted in my forever truck. I recently traded up to the 2023 SR5 trd sport premium and love it even more. I have several observations that make me believe several issues have been ironed out between the production of these two trucks:

    1) In my 2022, every single time I shifted into drive or reverse, the truck would lurch so bad I would have to mash the brake pedal as hard as I could and would still feel it. I have never felt something like it in any vehicle. In the new truck, no issues. Shifts to drive and reverse like butter.

    2) When I had auto start/stop engaged on the 2022 and would come to a stop, shift into park, and shut off the truck and the engine had already been turned off from the stop start system, the truck would very momentarily try to start the engine again before shutting off. It wouldn’t fully start, but it would crank for a moment. This was clearly extra unneeded wear on the starter. The new truck does not due this and shuts off quietly when the start stop system has already turned off the engine.

    3) The 2022 gave me a loud clank when starting. This has been well documented on the forum. This does not happen on the 2023.

I’m glad Toyota did. I didn’t drive the 22 to compare to, but I do have the same lunar rock 23 trd sport as you. Hope it’s trouble free

Glad to hear that the experience is better. I am a little nervous with a second year run, but it being a Toyota alleviates a lot of worry. I've always looked for models nearing the end of their run in the past figuring most of the issues have been worked out by then.

My coworker just got his 23 SR5 I'm going to check to see if his makes the startup clunk noise I'm curious now.
