Hey There, I am new to the forum and excited to take part.

I just purchased my 2022 Tundra Limited Crewmax TRD Off Road and week ago and have had a couple of issues I would like to share and know if anyone else has experienced them.

My first issue was with the 14" display turning green and pink periodically when driving. It may stay this way for 10 seconds up to 2-3 minutes. It will sometimes also keep an image on the screen from when I back up and remain frozen on the screen until I shut the truck off and restart.

The second and more serious issue just happened on Saturday when driving at 50 mph on a highway when the truck started to chime like my seatbelts were off then the truck shut off the ignition on the highway while driving. I was able to pull over and put on my 4 ways on carefully avoiding an accident. I took it to the dealer today who ran a scan and the only error that showed up was called a engine stall and had a code of X0800. The dealer took note however did not know what to do with both problems as this was their first 2022 Tundra in the shop. They told me to go and they would look into the issues. This all happened with less than 200 miles on the truck.

    Anyone else have similar problems?

The truck shuts off on a highway while driving and they tell you to go? That’s a little dangerous. I would have left it and asked for a loaner. Not something I would want happening with my family in the truck.

Are you still able to do a hard reset of this infotainment system by holding the power button for 3 seconds like in the 2.5 gen?

For your stalling issue… not sure if this would work… seems like your truck has some major electrical issue.

I heard someone else had a pinched harness causing some problem with wheel speed sensors, brake control, and other TSS functions.

I dont care what's wrong with the thing...a vehicle should never shut off on its own because the computer tells it to. That's super dangerous. What if the drive is on a bridge with no shoulder? Super heavy traffic. etc.

I want to thank everyone for their input and suggestions. Truly appreciated.

I will be calling Toyota tomorrow and will try to escalate things up the ladder. I agree stalling on a highway is crazy dangerous and could lead to some serious lability issues for Toyota not fixing it. The display continues to act up and its very frustrating for a new truck. I have tried a infotanment reset with no success.

If your state has a 30 day return policy on vehicles...take advantage of it and cut your losses now. Toyota is not stepping up on a lot of these issues and unless you have a very understanding dealership, you may be in for a long road. The head unit they should have replaced, but let me guess, no replacement parts and it will be until the next generation comes out before they get parts.

    update.

On March 5th, the truck stalled/ shut down again while driving on a highway. I feel very lucky that no one was behind me as things could have been different if I had been rear ended or unable to make it to the shoulder. I took the truck to my local dealer who downloaded the codes that confirmed a stall and shutdown and sent then to Toyota however he was offered no solution by Toyota Canada on what to do. I called Toyota Canada customer service again....and I once again was told we are working on it. Toyota told me they could authorize the LCD be disconnected if it bothers me or I can part the truck until a solution is found. WOW, no sense of urgency for a truck that stalls out on a highway while driving that could possible cause an accident that would hold the liable. What find interesting is that they always say they are working on it. I gave Toyota Canada a tremendous opportunity to have a engeener come to my local dealer to inspect the truck when I left the truck at the dealer for 17 days while I went on Vacation. Toyota Canada was informed of this and made no attempt to work with the dealer. The dealer called Toyota Canada but was told they are working on it and no interaction happened during this time.

After numerous calls to Toyota Canada, seeking help for these issues, all I get from the customer service department manager I am transferred to is that the engineers are working in the stall and LCD issue. I have been working with the local dealer that has been awesome, however their hands are tied as to what they can do as they are not allowed to fix or try without Toyota approving their work for payment first.

There are no lemon laws in Canada so its a tough situation to be in with a $65,000 truck that only has 1,700 KM.

    Any suggestions?

I am so sorry to hear about this. This problem is truly a serious problem!! If I was you I think I would be asking for my money back and looking into getting something else what that would be I have no idea. This truck cannot be trusted with live individuals in this vehicle while moving!!!! A lady here in Texas reported her truck slammed on the brakes for no apparent reason. Mind you only heard one side of that story but I do know there are problems!!!

I do not know Canada laws but they have to have something on the books to help the consumer?? Best of luck!!!!!

If you haven't been assigned one, you need a case manager / case number. I had an issue that kept mine in the shop for 5 weeks. It may have been a coincidence, it may not have, but in week four, my dealership said their hands are tied, Toyota won't send the needed parts. It took me 3 calls, but I finally got through to a person that knew to get me a case manager. This call was on a Thursday; by the following Monday, the regional service manager was calling the dealership, the part was shipped from Texas and the truck was ready on Tuesday!

I don't recall when, but I have seen threads on here in the last few weeks about both your issues. The screen pictures look the same.

    This is unacceptable.
I have to be honest. This is the first Toyota vehicle for me in the last 10 years. The overall dealer and buying experience was absolutely garbage. Now hearing this makes me think Toyota has no customer service at all. What a shame.

Never Ever Buy a First generation. Unless you want to be the Test Dummy. No offense. I hope they can get it fixed for you. My brother is having issues with his Brand New iPhone. Because of the Global Shutdown all manufacturers have cut back on Quality to keep making Products. Toyota even said they would accept Non-conforming parts.

B0B71C47-FC41-4745-9F48-56BAB3E01042.jpg I’m having similar issues. I had the truck stall one time, I came to a stop to back in my driveway and it cut out. As well my camera sometimes does the purple/green fuzz when I put it in reverse, the only resolve is to restart the truck. I’m trying to narrow down the activities when I have the camera issue and seems to happen more often when I’m on the phone…
I have let my dealer know but I haven’t had a chance to give them the truck… but now that I know it can stall on the highway I’m gonna have to make arrangements!!
To note, it’s also a Canadian truck… I’m curious if it’s happening on any US models.

Almost seems like it could be a loose wire or connector for the rear camera.

you are having exactly the same issues as me. I would contact Toyota Canada and fill a complaint then head to your local dealer.

There are already two separate threads about each of these issues, so you're not alone, with others seeing the mardis gras usually in very cold temps and the stalling issue usually when on an incline. Neither is acceptable and you need to keep calling Toyota Canada until you get this resolved. Call Stephen Beatty or Tony Kelly, 416-431-8096.
