I am looking for a lightly used or new Tundra. Test drove a 2022 TRD Pro with 37 k miles. They want $60k. I asked since it’s out of warranty and you have had it for sale for 10 months would you entertain $60k out the door? They said with title tax and registration total price would be $65K.
I asked with such low miles why isn’t truck a CPO vehicle with a 12 month warranty?
Toyota Sales girl said because there is an open warranty on the Hybrid trucks that they can’t do that?
    Does this seem legit?
    Thanks. DIMG_9438.jpgIMG_9437.jpg

Toyota can not certify a vehicle when selling if it has any open recalls on it which includes INTERIM notices.

I think your offer was very fair as a new TRD Pro is $75k for a 2024 0 miles. Without the Certified Warranty you have no basic and only powertrain remaining.

I think the first response is the answer for why its cant be certified. If I were you I would press adding a extended warranty with your offer, that doesn't cost them nearly what it costs you. Could be a chip to use in your favor of your original offer or something to add in if they weren't going to budge.

As for price, you made a fair offer. One thing I would check is the tires, see if they've replaced the tires and have done the new alignment specs. Many are getting new tires for free on their Pros, I would want them to do that before you sign. If it has 37k miles, Id suspect its the second set of tires as the factory Mildpeaks are garbage.

no thanks on a truck for $65K with 37K miles on it already, out of warranty for a first year model that is known to be problematic.

you also cant buy the toyota extended anymore since its over the 36K mark

    pass on this

Personally I'd pass on the '22 and look for a '23 or '24 that's used in a few months. They worked out a lot of small bugs after the '22MY.

I live in the Twin City area and seemed like no fair prices on used here.
So I have been looking and willing to go for a road trip to get a fair price.
Yesterday I went to Luverne ,Mn. 460 miles round trip and bought this 2022 with 15K miles for $55,000 plus taxes and fees. I think I saved around 5-6K from the prices near me. Peace. D

Personally, I'd pass at that price point until things are a little more sorted out w/that platform...

As others have stated open recall will nullify the ability to CPO. However, keep in mind in case you do come across an opportunity to purchase one at a reasonable price, that as long as the vehicle is still under factory warranty (not sure what the limits are for the 3rd Gens but usually 3 years/36,000 or something thereabouts), you can always purchase a Toyota Gold Extended Warranty from a toyota dealer to cover concerns you may beyond the standard warranty. A few threads w/some great points of contact on this forum you can reach out to for estimates, etc. I'd do a little research along those lines before negotiating w/any dealers on price/warranty, so at least you'll know what's fair as you enter discussions.

Once you have more pricing info on extended warranties, etc. you may find that expanding your search area will net better results. I bought my '21 Pro at the end of '21 (mid-Nov), and found that local dealers PNW were all overpricing and not budging because they could sell to California and Seattle buyers who were just fighting over the chance to buy anything... I ended up finding exactly what I wanted in Iowa, and it was about $4,000 less than anything local (including transport fees to have the vehicle shipped to me).

Options are out there just gotta be patient and flexible.

    Good luck!!!
