    Hey guys

wondering if anyone’s experienced removing their trd bed decals and having an imprint in the clear coat left behind. It’s like you can still see the emblem in the clear coat - like they put the decals on too soon after paint!? It’s wild and not sure what to do.

the trucks 1 month old haha. Might have to go to the dealership.

I’ll try to get some pictures.

Started helping a friend debadge their truck a few years ago. One of the side TRD Off Road stickers was under the clear coat.

Turns out it was damaged in transit and resprayed.

Dealer worked with him and repainted the bedside as the truck was only weeks old.

Thank you that’s what it looks like to me.

hopefully they can just respray the clear and avoid any paint! Damn it can’t win haha.

Yeah they’re a depression in the same exact lettering. Like the clear coat was soft when they applied them and it left an imprint.

Yeah reached out to the dealer and he said “there’s always a risk that’s why we won’t remove them” haha. Gonna take it to toyota tomorrow.

that sucks if that is the final outcome.

I feel like a good body shop could remedy it. Obviously at a cost to you, but I know if it were me, I couldn’t live with the imperfection.

Hopefully they make it right… somehow

Yeah kinda bullshit to just say not our problem. I’m going to take it to their collision center and make them fix it.

Nobody held a gun to your head to remove it. There is an inherent risk in everything you do albeit small...accept the consequences.

Just had mine removed from my all blacked out SR5. Went to a friend's grafix shop, tried a heat gun first with no luck, then to an electric eraser. Was a little nervous watching as the eraser turned the sticker to dust. 5 minutes later both sides complete, washed with hot water, came out perfect. Black shows every imperfection, but can't tell they were ever there. Wish now I had taken a few photos of the process...

Not sure why you think they should/will fix it. They don't advertise that the decals are removable do they?

Try a detailing shop, a light water sand and polish should fix it up.

Make them fix your modification???? Seems unlikely. If they do then they are doing you a huge favor.

    Hmmmm.........

Choose to remove stock decal with no issues on the finish?

Choose to remove stock decal, have problems, and put the risk on Toyota?

    Have fun with this.
