Was driving 110km an hour and my brakes locked flashing stop like I was gonna hit something .
This has happened before but I was going slow so not as severe
I told dealership and they said it was already updated nothing they can do
    That was first time
After todays incident now when I brake my steering wheel is shaking
I’m bringing it in asap this thing a death trap to the person that’s gonna rear end me going that fast

If they don’t fix my truck this is almost like a lawsuit waiting to happen .
Does anyone else have similar problems ?

Was there another vehicle that had just turned ahead of you but still close to your lane ?

    Is your radar sensor clean?

My truck is randoming applying brakes as well with the set cruise control.

Usually happens when vehicles have a really long on or off ramp, and when those cars get into the right lane the cruise system doesn't understand the vehicle has completely merged to other lane or hasn't even merged to my lane already and starts applying brakes.

This also happens on small city/county roads around 30-50, I'll get random aggressive braking when nobody is around me at all. I can turn off cruise control fast enough since the braking is quite aggressive and your like wtf!

Then a little later when I went to slow down for a light my steering wheel was vibrating shaking so my first thought was to goto a tire shop and get them to make sure my wheels were tight .
I told the mechanic it was shaking when braking and he said sounds like your rotor is warped did you slam on the brakes recently !

Your brake rotors are warped, that's what's causing the vibration when applying the brakes.

    Lots of stuff!
Do you think the steering vibration could be the Lane Departure Warning? Mine does that if I don't signal when changing lanes. It sees me crossing a line and vibrates like warped rotors. When I am exiting the highway and don't signal, I am braking at the same time.

The braking issue seems to be oncoming traffic automatic braking. There are a few different sensors working to make the auto braking system slam on the brakes. Could it be that one of those is not aimed correctly or malfunctioning?

If the brakes vibrate in the steering wheel all the time when applied, the warped rotors might actually be the case. Seems unlikely on a new truck but if your miles are higher, that might be what's happening. Check your warranty and any service deals that you have on the truck to see if the brakes are included. Most warranties exclude brakes since they are wear items.

Well I phoned country hills Toyota this morning
And they said there busy for two weeks and brakes are not covered under warranty
I WAS LIKE THEY DIDNT MESS UP UNTIL THE VEHICLE LOCKED UP AT 120km on a busy highway (HWY 2 In Alberta) . however I didn’t give them any grief I said ok I need you to fix it because I can’t fix the brake problem until the problem that caused it is fixed.
They told me first try to bring it were you bought it and talk to them about it as it’s a safety issue and your right there not having to drive it to another city and if they won’t help you call them back and they’ll get to the bottom of it .
Gary at Red Deer Toyota will not return my calls or emails I have explained everything . I’m very close to the trade in to a different make . like very tempted take my loss and walk . This is my 5th new Toyota product

Have you had a windshield put in, because if it is not calibrated properly the collision sensors can be aiming wrong. We went thru this with a vehicle....picking up stuff on the right hand side

Call Toyota customer support they give you a case manager and dealers usually play nice when you got a case manager watching over everything.

Yup I finally came to a realization why most of the work at dealerships is done poorly. It’s not because the tech is an ahole but literally they don’t get enough time to do the work. Jobs they get have a time limit so after that they don’t get paid for their work so if I was a tech why would I care about some randos truck. I know it’s not the right thing to do but literally they are forced to work as fast as possible and sprinkle in rising costs of everything and dealers not paying them enough.

dealer probably charges us $150/hr for labor but the tech probably gets $30/hr max - maybe not true word for word but you get the idea.

warranty work is the most hated by techs source is my friend who is a diesel trans tech at gmc. These techs are more understanding than the advisors or even the managers sometimes but that’s all they are allowed to do and by the time they realize their worth and leave the next lad will replace him and the cycle continues.

warped rotors are caused by a few things. The main component is heat.
At 55km (Thats a little less than 35,000 smiles) Braking habits, (like riding the brakes) can cause the brake rotors to overheat as well as hard starts and stops. Rapid cooldown like driving through puddles can also cause that. Hey a helpful kid washing the truck after a drive can do it too. Look at all the steam coming from the wheels!

Generally this ends up happening up front where most of the stopping is actually happening.

A previous post mentioned brake maintenance... What's brake maintenance? Cleaning some of the dust out of there can prevent noises when the brakes are applied. Sometimes.
