    Hi Folks,

Hopefully a simple question - we were about to order a Limited from the factory but a local dealer has a Limited TRD OR coming in a few weeks...

We've test driven a Limited but the wife is concerned that the TRD OR suspension will be less...comfortable (more lateral movement/bouncing).

We'll likely never off-road the truck in any serious way. Mostly a road/family vehicle and for transporting sheet goods from HD/Lowes

    Thoughts?

When I test drove back in Jan, I was able to drive a Limited and a TRD OR Limited (Canadian) but at dealers about 45 mins apart. My recollection was that the TRD was a little smoother ride, but I could t compare on the same route so this is purely anecdotal! Here the all TRD OR packages have the same 18 in wheels, which is different than the US.

See if you can drive the TRD when it comes in and get a feel for it.

I got my Limited TRD OR a few weeks ago and have not been pleased with the ride. Came off a a 2010 Tundra that rode very smoothly. The new one is extremely quiet in terms of wind noise, but the suspension seems tight and you feel every imperfection in the road, which we have A LOT of in California. On a smooth road is it like a Cadillac. At first I thought it was that the vehicle was lighter, but the GVW is about the same as my old one. I did have a camper shell on my old one which added weight. I now have added two tote boxes full of broken concrete, about 120lbs each, in the back of the bed and that has helped quite a bit. Also the tire pressure was a few lbs high when we got it from the dealer (now at 35psi cold).
And please don't yell at me that "you bought a pickup not a limo so buck up"...I've been driving pickups for over 50 years and the suspension on this one does seem stiff when bed is empty. :)

limited has the black shocks, worse of the stock shocks that you can get. The sport or OR package shocks are better. Stock black shocks are marginal for stock tires, generally last about 50k miles before losing damping. They dont control body roll, do ride softer however but you still feel road imperfections.

I think the OR package shocks are the best ride and handling of the stockers, except for the stock Pro setup of course.

OR package shocks and a TRD rear sway bar is a great match for road and light to medium off road use. Good ride, handles and controls larger tires, no rolling in turns. OR shocks last longer too, 60-80k miles before they lose dampening.

Just got my 22 limited Tundra TRD OR a couple weeks ago. Coming from a 2020 limited 4runner and in my opinion the tundra has a smoother ride. Already been to Charlottesville for some camping and a little off roading with no complaints. You also get the PVM and multi terrain cameras in the off road package which are GOLD!! 360 degree view worth it alone in my opinion.

its not mentioned but i'd recommend platinum 4x4 or above that has adaptive variable suspension. it's perfect for family and esp those that are sensitive to bumpy rides or motion sickness. putting the truck in comfort mode will adjust suspension to be more plush based on road conditions. going into sport + will not only change shift points to be more aggressive but also tighten up dampening for more responsiveness like driving through the hills/mtns with curves.
