I just bought a Tundra Limited and the speedometer may be off by 5-10%. The speedometer doesn’t match Google Maps or Speed apps like Speed Box or Speedometer but does for some reason seem to match those watch your speed radar signs I pass sometimes. Thoughts? The sticker in the door matches the tire size.

Your phone constantly receives signals from satellites to determine your exact location coordinates (latitude, longitude, and altitude).

Google Maps calculates your speed by measuring how far you've moved over a specific period of time.
There will be a difference using this app, vs your actual speedo.Your factory speedo has been calibrated to DOT standards and will me more concise vs civilian use of satellites.

Thank you!! So even 5-10% off is normal? Truck and ‘you’re going’ radar signs say 70 but Google Maps and other apps say 73-77 is normal? That’s seems like a lot and I’ve never seen this in any of my previous vehicles so just want to confirm. Thanks again!

The speed signs are accurate. Trust those over an app

So if my speedometer says I'm doing 90 and I go by a sign that say 30, I'm actually only going 30?:)

lots of factors can affect your trucks speedometer. changing tires can make a difference as well.

My Google map speed is always lagging behind my actual speed. I have an aftermarket headunit with built in Garmin gps. The speed display on my nav is instant response and matches the speedo perfect. But Google always seems to be a little off and lagging behind actual speeds.

I believe they are the original tire size as they match the sticker in the door frame.

My ASSumption, is all factory speedometers are slower than the actual speed so you cannot blame the manufacturer for speeding, since you have to be going a couple mph above what the speedo says to actually be speeding---ie the gauge is always conservative.

GPS (which is what Google Maps is using) and Radar are far more accurate. Most/all stock vehicles I've been in were a couple mph slower than you thought you were going.
