    Hi everyone,

Searched everywhere on this forum but couldn't find an answer. I have a 2022 Sequoia with the factory tow package (including the brake controller plug behind the driver footwell kick trim). Does anyone know if I can just buy the 2021 Tundra 5.7L OEM integrated brake controller and install it in the Sequoia?

    Thanks in advance

My stupid question (because I don't know anything about the Sequoia) is why the tow package doesn't include the brake controller.

If you need to buy a controller anyway, I suggest you skip the stock unit and install a P3 instead. Much better controller and not expensive.

Yeah, I'm looking at the P3 and Redraw as well. Ideally the OEM one works, I'm going to 3D print a mod to the bezel mount (Sequoia interior is different than the 2021 Tundra), and I'm trying to get an OEM finished look.

I haven't tried it yet, but I'm hoping that the OEM install unlocks the trailer pages in the Sequoia tow package software for a full OEM-type solution. Still can't believe that Toyota wouldn't just offer the trailer brake as either standard or and option.

As a side rant, if they'd updated the 2nd Gen Sequoia interior a bit, installed the 8 speed auto from the 5.7 Lexus, and with small additions like the brake controller, you'd probably, no you'd certainly end up with a better vehicle than the 3rd Gen (2023) Sequoia.

I went with the Redarc tow pro elite in my 2015 Tundra because I also wanted to maintain a factory look. Redarc makes a switch blank that fits the Toyota blanks.

RUN from the factory controller... it's a piece of crap.
I really wish there was an easy way without hardwiring to integrate an aftermarket controller to our Tundra. We've had issues with it since day 1 with where when you set the EBC high enough to cause the Winnebago brakes to work as they are supposed to (and yes, the trailer brakes have been adjusted) that when driving down the road the trailer brake hubs get so hot you can only touch them or an instant. Disable the EBC and drive for a while and the hubs miraculously cool down. Haul same trailer with some other trucks and adjust the controller appropriately and no issues with the hubs overheating. Of course, the local Toyota dealership found "no issues".
I really like our Tundra, but am seriously considering going to either a Ford or Chevy... and if I'm going to go to that extent, it will be a 3/4 ton.

That switch looks like it was a factory install. Did you have to purchase the switch blank that was size-specific to the Tundra? I am buying a 2020 Sequoia that is equipped with the hitch and the 7-pin connector, but I'd be surprised if it had the brake controller. The vehicle will be shipped to me, so i really haven't a clue at this point.

Yes Redarc makes the switch blanks specific to the vehicle. It looks like the TPSI-002 is the right one for 2020 Sequoia.
