Decided to lose the ugly silver on my new TRD Pro, tore it down and painted it with SEM trim black as well as the steering wheel bezels and shifter surround. Put it back together and didn't like that either.

Crap, tore it back apart today and painted the bezel and the gray trim pieces all a darker gray metallic. Used SEM charcoal metallic trim paint, doesn't cover very well and was lighter that I wanted. Put a base cote of trim black on the parts and 2 cotes of the charcoal over top to get the color I wanted. Looked good so I did the silver on the door panels the same way.

As the risk of being verbally abused here, I like the chrome on the dash, drink holders and ordered chrome door handles from Toyota. Just waiting on the wireless charger, door handles20210115_151353.jpg 20210116_160457.jpg 20210116_160510.jpg 20210116_160512.jpg 20210116_172414(0).jpg and the Tech12volt subwoofer and box to finish my to-do list for now..........

Looks great, just the right amount of contrast. How does the paint hold up typically?

The SEM trim paint holds up very well. Don't know what would be the result of painting the door handles, I assume it would wear in a couple years.

There is https://www.tundras.com/threads/black-oem-interior-trim.10946/ you can buy the door handles in black and there is a guy who does YouTube videos called @2020Platinum and he has a video showing you how to remove and install your door handles.

    Pretty simple actually.

Looks good. I also did the totally dechromed and blacked out interior on my previous truck. It was a bit overkill for me. I like the look of the brushed gray finish that surrounds the info-tainment and heating controls on our trucks and wish that Toyota could extend that to the rest of the dash. I'm with the majority on here in that I'm not a fan of chrome.

And I'm in the oddball camp of liking the silver in the cab. I want to remove the chrome on the shifter bezel and the cup holder because I get blinded by reflected sunlight, but the painted silver... I like it. :notsure:

    Soon...
I actually wouldn't mind the silver, but there's 3 different silvers in the cab of these trucks. There's the silver of the general trim, the darker silver on the stereo, and various chrome bits. To me they all clash together (esp. the stereo). I'm gonna paint the silver bits orange to match the exterior and black out the chrome with bits from AJT. I'd like to do something with the stereo as well, but I don't know how feasible that is.

There have been a few guys that have painted those parts. It looks good, but I am more of a stock interior guy. I will likely go the AJT route for the shifter bezel and AC rings, but I will just plastidip the cup holder. I don't really care for the AJT stuff that has the bolts, though.

I understand, they're not for everyone. I really wish they had the Inferno bolts for those parts. The black trim with the Inferno bolts, that would look good.

The bolts are just anodized aluminum. It wouldn’t take much to get some standard bolts and hit them with some duplicolor paint. Just be careful when you install them not to screw up the inside of the socket.
