Purchased 2021 TRD Pro with 17K miles no lift and 285/75-18 Ridge Grapplers. I've got ~24K miles now and doing 2nd tire rotation and shop basically said no reason to rotate because the fronts are so badly cupped on outside lugs and tread is pretty low. Didn't try to sell me tires but basically said you should think about tires soon and you might have to rotate more often. Typically do 5K rotations on all my vehicles including my 2006 Tacoma 4x4 with over 300K and never a problem. That truck hasn't even had an alignment its entire life!

Not a fan of these tires anyway and since they are looking pretty worn I've been planning on doing tires in the next 10K or so, but damn. Less than 24K on these tires and they are toast!

I know the previous owner had a Wescott lift installed for a short time and then removed. Not sure about alignment history.

Looking for advise on Strategy going forward. Plan to do tires and alignment soon. Are there any "golden" alignment specs for these 2.5 Gen TRD Pro's other than OEM? Am I really going to have to do rotations more frequently?

Wife has a Wrangler with Duratracs and we get over 75K out of a set of tires and we live in the mountains driving twisty high speed roads every day...

    Any guidance is appreciated.

    My truck eats tires.

I ended up clambering the fronts in a tiny bit from factory and that helped.

Yet we see @RainMan_PNW getting 70K out of his A/T3W's. I'm going to hold out for the new A/T4W's to become available

So the general consensus from the other posts I've read is you want Camber pretty much 0-+0.1 and as much caster as possible without sacrificing camber. Toe seems to be kind of all over the place, but I'll say .1 per side for total of .2.

The other general consensus is that Toyota OEM alignment spec has too much positive camber and toe in which does promote outside wear. I can clearly see obvious positive camber on my truck and it just doesn't look right to me.

As soon as I can buy A/T4W I'll put those and use the above specs for alignment. I always use a dedicated or specialty alignment shop, never a chain tire store or the dealer. I'm convinced they don't care or now how to properly use their equipment.

They are trained to don’t give a shit, within spec they tell you everything is green, so you keep buying tires.

Yep. My first set of factory tires had me back at the dealer half a dozen times trying to get the alignment right from the factory. They never got it right. Then they told me I used the bed of the truck too much and that’s what was causing the wear. Not kidding. I then asked them to set the toe and camber for weight in the back. They didn’t.

long story short find a good independent shop that knows what they are doing.

This is the key and was part of the 19 pages in the other source. Finding a good shop that can/will do a proper alignment seems to be the equivalent of hitting the lottery these days.

Also, be mindful that you may need to make minor adjustments from these numbers for your specific setup, but it's a much better starting point that is still within the "green" parameters.

Tire shop are OK just don’t expect good alignment with those buy 4 tires and check your alignment for $60 deal…those just check and do a toe set, if you pay full price you get full treatment.

Looks like we might live in the same area. I have always used Custom Alignment in Mountain View. I buy all my tires from chain tire shop, but never let them do an alignment.
