    Hello all,

Long time reader, first time poster here.

Just closed on a 2021 Tundra Platinum in Voodoo Blue. Should get delivered next week.

After several months of looking I never ran across a Voodoo Blue in 1794 trim. I think they made them, but not many in that combo. I love the electric blue but didn't want a Limited interior. I ran into a handful of Voodoo Blue in Platinum and finally found the one I wanted. Funny thing is carfax and autotrader often cofuse the automatic heading of Platinum and 1794, making me look at actual interior photos. Which leaves me here.

My wife really wanted the 1794, which I also prefer. I like keeping the Admiral happy after 32 years so I got a plan to swap out most of the platinum interior with 1794. The biggest part being the seats front and rear. After reading I'm just a bit unclear if all 2014-2021 Platinum/1794 seats are identical. Is all the wiring the same among all years or could something have changed for 14-19 vs 20-21?

So, any thoughts about this swap, besides the obvious, that I'm a dipschlit for doing it? Guess y'all can venture if you'd swap the steering wheel and other wood panels and dash trim too?

Finally w. the platinum/1794 swap I'm only a hood swap and grill, takeoff fox shocks/springs away from a TRD pro 1794 edition.

Ideally, one of you fine folks living in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, or Delaware hates the 1794 orangutan colored leather interior and would like to swap out, lock stock and barrel, with my awesome black pleated leather Platinum interior. Labor, and all the beer and bourbon you can drink- is on me!!!

Oh, long live the forum, and down with the evil facebook group.

Hit me up if my offer intrigues you. I'll post in classifieds.

    Regards,
    Justin Wade

I doubt they ever made a 1794 in Voodoo blue. I love the color though.

There is a guy on the Voodoo Blue thread that has one. I think they are very rare.

Thanks. Was looking on car-parts too. But then I got this giant set of platinum seats I gotta sell or store. Maybe a new living room set. The Admiral would love that. :rofl:Ideally I store someone’s 1794 seats in my truck and someone stores my platinum seats in their truck. Heck we can swap back and forth once a year just for fun.

I second Jim’s link. Going Katzkin seems like the most sensible route rather than buying a full set of 1794 seats in unknown condition. If the foam in the current seats is good, then just swap out the seat covers for a Cognac Katzkin or Autumn Katzkin seat interior. Then, piece meal the 1794 trim panels. The upside to this approach is you reuse the same seats, have new (customizable) seat covers, and should be significantly cheaper overall (esp. if you install them yourself).

That said, one downside is I’m not sure how close the Katzkin matches the OEM 1794 trim panels.

Reupholstered stock leather is an option.

Again are all of the platinum 1794 seats 2014-2021 the same or did something change in later years for wiring, foam, or frame?

    thanks,
    Justin

The 1794 will match up with the wiring ect on the platinum. If you were closer I would do it.

Ha. I think peanut butter is poopier. I’m sticking with orangutan.

If you’re serious… where are you in NJ? Seats in good shape?

I'm all for this swap, hope you pull it off!

I went the other way and started with the 1794 and swapped the exterior to (almost) platinum. Door handles and badges are the only thing that give it away now.

Anybody able to confirm all platinum/1794 from 14-21 are identical for seats- cushioning, wiring, airbags, etc?

current consideration is a a 2014 for my 2021 so would want to be sure! If it was a 20-21 I’d be pretty darned positive of no hiccups.
    Thanks,
    Justin

Still looking for somebody who hates the 1794 interior enough to swap it out. Dave in NJ was willing- but his truck w. 170K miles was a bit more worn than mine.

    Happy Holidays,
