    Remote Starter
Hello guys, I purchased a new tundra about two weeks ago. I negotiated a remote starter as part of the sales deal. the issue that Im having after the service department installed the remote starter the tire pressure light stays on a send a warning sometimes it disappears when I step on the brake but other times it remains on for a while, also my collision sensor came off on a beautiful sunny day. have you guys experience this on any of your tundras? thank you in advance.

My aftermarket remote start does the exact same thing. I’ve had it for 8 months now with no issues. From what I hear the factory remote starts will shut off once a door is opened. So I am glad to have the after market one

The aftermarket remote start on my 2018 Limited does the same thing. The low pressure light will come on until you put it in drive. It has something to do with the way the CAN-BUS wiring feeds information into the computer, and how the remote start is integrated into all of it. I have a compustar remote starter FWIW.

I have a 2017 Tundra with a dealership installed Viper remote start. Range on the remote (with a new battery) is almost too good, darn near a half mile or more.
My only 2 gripes are the remote start is on a separate fob so bigger keyring and the fob only takes 1 push to start. Sometimes if I'm not careful I'll accidentally start the truck when keys are in my pocket. Not sure if this applies to your 2020 model.

I called the dealership this morning I asked that they provide me with a name and model number of the parts they use. so far it works great its just the TPS staying on for long periods of time, I feel like i got rid of and old silver ado so I wouldn't have check engine and other light on all the time and now i have to deal with this. Thank you all for your help and input. you are all awesome.

I have an aftermarket Automate remote starter in my ‘18 that was already there when I bought it. At first I couldn’t get it to work until I played around with the connection to the receiver. It’s been working fine ever since but I’m wondering if I’ll have issues with it again at some point. I’ve never had remote start in a vehicle before so it’s kind of cool to have but the second fob on my key ring isn’t ideal. If it had the factory system in it, I’d probably be a bit more happy but beggars can’t be choosers and it was already in there so what the heck.

The app only works with the upgraded JBL audio. Mine has standard audio. mine was an add on and I love it cause I can open the doors and it won’t shut off.

I installed my own viper 2way alarm remote starter in my 2017 then remove n did it again on my 2019 platinum. No problems. Range is great too. When it remote starts, your tpms sensor will stay lit until you press on the brake to shut off the remote starter. Its part of the module configuration. I would have the dealer recheck their work.

You can have the installer re-program the remote to 2 clicks or 2 button to remote start.
My viper is the lcd 2way remote. So start button is on the side n hold for 3 sec.

:eek2: Are you serious?! FFS, when I asked the dealer they just told me nope, that's how it is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.... I'm going to need to have a word with them. Maybe the dealer can't do it but the installer can?

Mine is a 2 way as well, where I get either a green light for a successful start or red for unsuccessful, along with appropriate chimes....

Hmmm actually hold that thought. I just went to take a picture to show my remote and realized its not actually a viper remote, its made by "Automate". Not sure if that dealer/installer can't reprogram these? I don't have a fancy LCD screen, just a simple remote with 1 button and an LED.

Not sure how but it could be how some remote starter brands bypass opening the doors. Fortin Evo One remote starter has a TPMS Interrupt Harness. I use this remote starter and the tpms light doesn't turn on.

I had the dealership install the drone mobile remote starter on my 19 when I purchased it. Engine doesn't shut off when you open the doors, no low tire lights, unlimited range. Best part, you don't have to carry an extra key FOB and if you lock (or leave your keys in the truck on purpose), you can open it up from your phone.. The app will also tell you the voltage of your battery, the internal temperature in the cab, and if you want to pay extra you can get gps info..
