    Hi All,

Love this forum! Long time lurker but first time poster. I was a long time F150 owner, switched to a Tacoma and absolutely love it. With a potentially growing family, future need for towing ability etc. I’m considering going back to a half ton within the next year or two.

I love my Tacoma to death and wouldn’t consider anything but a Tundra after bad experiences with the F150’s. The real question is to pick up a 2020 when they arrive on lots, or wait for the redesign? I’m leaning toward a 2020 for the following reasons:
    - 5.7 V8 is well beyond proven, and the new trucks may not have an old school NA-V8 option
    - Truck in general is very proven considering the bones are 13 years old
    - 2020 has all the tech I want (apple car play, push button start) with nothing I don’t (cylinder deactivation, every control being tied to the info-tainment, etc.)

Of course it’s impossible to know what the redesigned Tundra will be like, so I’m mainly looking for opinions and what others will be doing. Thanks again and love the forum!
    Will

I personally would not want the first year of a redesign, and actually we'll see if I want the redesign at all.

I love my 2018 Tundra. I like that it's a little more simple, reliable, proven. I really hope Toyota doesn't mess it up trying to appease all the people barking for more fluff.

Wait for the 21's. If they are not what you want then get the 20 they will be a lot cheaper then

If you do decide to go with a redesign, give it six months to a year before buying one. Let some people test it out and figure out what quirks are there. There will be some.

Also coming from a Tacoma myself, I've had my share of them being 2nd and 3rd gen, to the Tundra, you won't regret it. It's thirsty but fun.

current Tundra platform is proven and extensive knowledge online whenever something goes bad or if you want to customize it. However I'm still interested to see what 2021 brings to the table. I wouldn't mind better mpg and range but at this point it's a waiting game.

Really appreciate everyone’s input! Great points all around. Given EPA regs I’m almost positive the old reliable 5.7 and 6 speed combo, 4.30 rear end etc will be gone. Just speculation on my part of course, and I hope I’m wrong, but in so many ways the Tundra is the last old school half ton you can buy (big plus for me, possibly not for sales) and Toyota will want to compete with the big 3 for the next gen.

just wait a bit, we'll probably get some unveiling at some point early next year before it goes into full production.

I bought the 2019 because of the new stuff that may be an issue.
In four years or so I may get another one bt I wont regret getting this one even if they have auto park on the newer ones.

I dont want stop and go on it
