I bought a 2020 SR5 TRD OR Crewmax that I picked up the first week of January. My wife gave birth to our first child days later.
Between our new baby, some family leave time, a pandemic, our ability to work from home and living in an area where we can have nearly everything delivered to our house... the truck has gotten very little use.
In nearly 5 months there is only 1700 miles on it, and 250 of that was the dealer picking it up in another state and driving it back to the dealership when I bought it.
So is there anything I need to worry about as far as maintenance? Is there such a thing as not breaking in the truck enough? Should I still wait for all the recommended services based on mileage or get stuff done early since it’s sitting a lot?

On a related note, with a germaphobe new mom insisting on wiping down stuff on a regular basis, what are the best options for the interior of the truck that won’t damage or stain it? I’ve obviously been staying away from anything with bleach in it. I have some alcohol based wipes I’ve used a few times but do I have to worry about ruining the vinyl interior?

Let’s keep this truck only related and avoid the political discussions on stay at home orders.
    Thanks

You can use anything you want, but I wouldn't use anything alchohol or peroxide based due to drying out or possibly discoloring trim, leather. Soap and water on leather, armor all has a mild detergent, so maybe armor all wipes for dash, doors, wheel. Soap is supposed to be effective breaking down the fats of covid19.

Congrats on the new baby and truck!

I'm in the same boat with telecommuting; aside from a trip or 2 to the store, the truck has been parked.

I've been going on drives to burn some fuel, exercise the 4x4 etc. My next fill-up will be with ethanol-free (E0) for peace of mind.

Truck will be fine. Exercise the 4x4 on a straight road or in the rain if possible. Dirt would be better. Basic interior cleaning products will be fine. If you use something harsh just go back with an interior product.

What the others guys have said- find 5 straight miles or so and turn on 4 HI, battery tender, Sta-Bil...

I think the recommendation for lubricating the 4WD is 10 miles per month?

I would just drive it a little each week.

As for interior cleaning, I use Chemical Guys interior cleaner/protectant and microfiber.

Now- I work in healthcare. I have a bottle of 91% isopropyl spray in the truck. I am ritualistic: I wash my hands right before leaving work and then apply hand sanitizer immediately when I get in the truck. When I get home, I spray the steering wheel, shifter, my phone, and door handle with 91% isopropyl. I have seen no fading or texture change. I did wrap my wheel in leather.

I do this because we are still admitting patients from city hospitals where the virus is present. The shit is not coming home with me.

I believe you’re right at it being recommended for 10 miles a month.

stay safe out there. Mother in law works in healthcare and has had plenty of her people die because of this.
