@Rboho. I have a 2020 crewmax and didnt know if it had remote start, so tried it as per a previous poster and I clicked lock button on remote and held on 3rd click until something happened. Lights blinked numerous times and then it started. So try it again on your and be patient

My 2021 does not work like that for some reason. I kind of give up.

I bought a 2020 and the key fob -> lock three time and hold trick didn’t work for me, at first…

I had the Toyota app for my previous Tacoma and thought it wasn’t a bad option for remote start, so I called Toyota and signed up for the service.

While talking with the Toyota rep, I complained how an “app only” option was a silly move for Toyota’s loyal customers and the rep informed me that my truck DID indeed have remote start capabilities from the factory, as many do, but the feature simply hadn’t been “turned on” via Toyota. I asked if I had to sign up for service for them to activate it, they said no, I could just have them do it and be able to use the key fob anytime.

So maybe call Toyota and make sure you’re not in the same weird predicament.

Your truck stayed on the shelf too long, haha!
