I have a 2020 Platinum with 22k that has an issue. The steering is loose and clunky mostly when going over low speed bumps but it also handles poorly at all speeds--all over the place, similar to what you'd expect with an old vehicle...no on center feel, lack of confidence etc. The issue has been slowly getting worse over the past 10,000 miles or so. It feels like the truck has 200k+ miles. We've taken it to the dealer several times and had the higher ups take a look at it as well. They "checked all suspension parts" and find no fix. They notice the issue but always claim it's fixed even when it's not. It's extremely annoying that this can't be fixed by the dealer. Any suggestions?

This is our fourth Tundra and we have an identical 2020 Platinum in the driveway that feels completely different--tight and confident handling, the way it should be.

Is your truck stock or is it leveled/lifted? You have the stock black shocks I am guessing vs the Sport or Off Road units? Your shocks are either black, red/blue, or yellow/blue.

The stock black ones are marginal at best when new. They do not control the truck well, usually last about 40k miles before degrading. You are at half that mileage, but they could be a factor. If you do have a level kit...let us know.

If you are having actual clunks, check your steering bushings. Also check torque in front suspension and steering, coilovers, UCA, LCA, tie rods, etc. Stock Tundra should have no clunking or sounds. Based on what you are saying, seems like it may be steering rack/bushings related.

Try another dealer if yours is not finding the issue, or have it looked at by a good suspension shop. Dealers dont always provide the best service and repair. A shop that specializes in suspension/steering, etc should be able to identify what is going on.

If you're not someone who works on their own stuff, then look at the previous reply. The people at that dealership are probably idiots. Find somewhere else, or better yet...

Start doing your own maintenance/diagnosis! Suspension stuff can be tricky but with 2 people, one to rock the vehicle corners and another to observe/feel for clunks in key areas, you can learn a lot. I'm working through an issue on another car where it clunked bad over any bumps. In the front, it was just bad sway bar end links. $50, and fixed. Took me and my gf maybe 15 minutes to diagnose. There's tons of videos on YouTube about diagnosing/finding vehicle noises. Not at all hard with some guidance and know how.

I think I will take it to another dealer and have them check it out
