    Hi All,

I have a 2020 Platinum and the low fuel light warning does not come on until the fuel range is at 5 miles. Needle is just above empty.Manual says it should come on with about 3.5 gallons remaining, standard tank. Even at 10 MPG, should come on earlier. Better be close to a gas station if the range is correct.

Took it to a dealer and they found no issues. Service tech said the truck is "learning" my drive habits and it will fix itself. Well, after 5000 miles, it hasn't learned anything apparently.

Any known issues that anyone knows about? When kind of range does your truck have when it comes on and does it stay on then until you refuel?

    Thanks

You're fine. Nothing to worry about. You have a 6 gallon reserve when the light comes on anyway.

When the light turns on, how many gallon do you fuel into the tank?

I have a 14 with only the 25 gal tank. When my light comes on, typically I'm 19.5gals deep.

I hear with the large tank, it's usually about 5 to 7 gal reserve.

It would be nice to know how many gallons you fuel with once the lights on. I betting your closer to 5 or 7 in the reserve.

Easy test. Like other posters have said, when the light comes on, see how many gallons it takes to fill up.
Most likely you still have 5-7 gallons in the tank. 6x15 that's about a 90 miles warning! If you are on top of a mountain and 90 miles away from a gas station, then you maybe in trouble but coming down its downhill so your gas mileage is better and may get 6x19 :D

The computer and the "miles to empty" read out is designed so people don't run out of gas, they know people will push it to the limit. Not to mention the engineers don't want you to run the tank dry and ruin the fuel pump. Just like others had said your light comes on with at least 6 gallons in there, which mathmatically will get you at least 60-90 miles depending on your driving style.

Yours should be same as my 19 Platinum. Fuel Low warning comes on between 1 and 5 miles. We were talking about this on another thread and happen to need gas the next day. Light came on and I filled up at an Exxon 1.5 miles up the road. My range said 1 mile but I still had 8 gallons left in a 38 gallon tank.

I do not usually take it down this low, just wanted to as others said that they do not have a low fuel warning, and they do.

trust me, even is your range says "0", your truck will not shut off. You could probably go another 100 miles but I would not try it.

Thanks Peeps, Ran it to zero miles range and filled it up. Apparently there's about 6 gallons left in the tank. Large tank option. I guess I was used to my Raptor that gave the range to empty as "range to actually empty", not you have 6 gallons left. Quirk I guess. Had f150's for 8 years, so this Tundra is taking a while to grow on me, some good, some bad.

yes, Toyota is a little bit different. Most vehicles are similar. In our Accord, once it reads 0 range, you have about 2 gallons or 60 miles left.

Makes me wonder on our 17 4Runner Likited how much is left when it is at 0 and fuel light on? Might have to try it soon!

yes, Tundra is different and a little behind. I still like older Tundras with temperature knobs, etc. Also don't care for my '16 computer display. I don't care about DTE and mpg and the stupid mpg bar. If it wasn't there I would not miss it. Gauges and some lights is all you need. don't care the car telling me I have 0 miles or 100 miles to empty. I can see the fuel gauge. I think they improved the computer display after 2018 to show more stuff like tire pressure. That would be useful not the stupid mpg bar.

Yep, seems normal to me. I was single digit “miles remaining” and filled 34.5 gallons. Don’t think the low fuel light came on.

It is different from Ford. My F150 light came on with 40miles remaining.
