    Hello Tundra Owners,

Just picked up a 2020 Toyota Tundra Platinum and I was planning on getting a catalytic converter shield because you never know what may happen. I was wondering if I could get some opinions on the few that I've picked out or if there are better brands out there.

    1. Valhalla's Shield
-My first option but it looks like lead time is 4+ weeks. Looks like in November some people were frustrated with longgg wait time.
    2. Talons Garage
-Everything about this seems good but some people in past post were upset with bad customer service/slow customer service
    3. Taco Tunes
-Nothing wrong with this brand, only thing is that Taco Tunes doesn't have a "rear plate" to protect the rear cats (unless I'm wrong here)
    4. Desert Eagle Offroad
-From my FB post, good customer service but there isn't any website

Let me know what you guys/gals think. Thanks for taking your time to look at this post!

Looks freaking awesome. How long was the wait for this? I don't mind waiting but then at the same time, this truck won't be garaged so I'd prefer to be safer than sorry.

Waited about two months. Liked em so much I added front skid plate too.

Your wait for Valhalla will be extremely long right now, I have their shields on my truck. @Talon2006 has been killing it currently and has shields boxed and ready to ship. The Talon/Valhalla shields are very similar and I don't think either is a bad choice. I'd pick the company that can get it to you faster. So Talon:thumbsup:

If you want full coverage and no wait, it would be hard to argue against the Talon's Garage plate set. They are priced well, and their picture showed many in boxes ready to ship. From the comments in the other thread, I would expect at least 4 month wait time with Valhalla's, not 4 weeks.

I would add the following from Trail's End Truck in Texas. They ship promptly, and the plate is good quality and fit. It does not cover the rear converters though.

Doesn't cover the rear converters? That seems counterproductive.

Looks like I'll have to stick with Talon's Garage then. Excited to start working on my first Truck!

    Welcome to the forum.

    I have Valhallas as well.
The wait time wasn't a problem for me, because my truck was at the dealership waiting for cat parts for 8 months..

I would look at Talons and see what he can do for you.
It would suck to sweat it out every time you park your truck wondering if you're going to get hit.
My cats were stolen at my place of employment..

    It sucks.
Don't put it off any longer than you have to.

    Thanks for your order!

We just finished putting the shipping label on it and it's going out today!

That really sucks but it seems like the order I just put in 30minutes ago already has a label printed. Can't complain about getting the product shipped out same day!

If you have someone to help you install it, that's a plus.
It helps to have an empty 5-gallon bucket or 2 to help you get in place to bolt it up.
A movers furniture dolly is helpful if you have one as well.
    Good luck.

Just ordered mine from Talons Garage, got a cross-country trip planned, and would hate to come out to a catless truck! Piece of mind took a hold of me! Thanks for all the references and sorry for those that lost their cats.

Just ordered front and back plates from Talons Garage as well. I had a few questions so messages him tonight. He quickly replied with answers. Looking forward to adding the protection and piece of mind.

I went with Valhalla's and am very happy with ease of install and the product. The wait was long but worth it imo

Did you get the TRD plate adapter? Any issues tightening the bolts at the trd plate?

Yes on the plate adapter, I didn't experience any issues. I had the TRD plate put on back in June so that might have made it easier.

Millercat is a good shield. Good coverage and easy to install. Has countersunk hardware with a tamper resistant head.

I am assuming these do not interfere with the oil drain plug, correct?

They all sit farther back than the oil drain pan and plug, no worries.

So even if I have the TRD Skid plate and the Talons Garage plates, I wont have an issue?

The oil drain plug is up front/to the side of the skid plate, and where the back of the skid plate attaches is where the cat shield begins, so it's all to the rear of it.

Oh I know, but that is old news that has been addressed. Talon is now an approved vendor on the forum and has been doing great. They donated to the raffle and have been showing they are here to support the forum.
The OP is looking for protection so I assume time plays a factor, if so Talon has no wait while Valhalla is roughly 2 months or more based on current comments from folks.

Who knows exactly what happened back then. As noted above, that is old news.
I wanted to add protection for some piece of mind and chose Talons Garage, because they were in stock and ready to ship, 1/4" thick (which is thicker than most) and the cost was less, compared to competitors with 1/4" Thickness.
I hate we have to buy these just to protect our trucks from thieves, but what other option do we have? Not doing anything and waiting for something to happen is not a good idea.

Got my Talon Garage shield yesterday, going on this afternoon after work. As many have said, sad we have to do this to protect components on our trucks. I wonder if a thief moves on or gets mad when to run up against a shield. :monocle:
