    I have this one

I use a kicker zx1000.1 to power it. Fits great behind the passenger seat of my crewmax and I bought the additional grill to help protect it.

There’s also a guy named James who does tundra specific setups. He can work with you based on your needs but can be pricey.

Edit: I also stuffed the enclosure with poly fill and that seems to have made it even better.

I didn’t replace any amp I just added my kicker amp and spliced off of the subwoofer input and my kicker already has high level(speaker wire type) inputs on it.

Otherwise you could get an amp that doesn’t have high level inputs and connect the spliced wires to a line out converter to clean up the signal and provide the input type you need.

Previous to the 2020, the JBL amp could power a better sub all on its own and you could just replace the sub itself, but in 2020 and 2021 models the amp sub output has been neutered for whatever reason.

Also I read here that splicing off of one of the door speakers would give better input to an amp for a subwoofer but I didn’t want to do that and run the wiring so I just spliced into the factory sub harness. It’s sounds good enough for me, at least for now.

Thanks I will try that but I had a 2017 and it sounds better than the 2020

Just know that there’s a lot of options for upgrading your sound out there.

    Head units.
    Speaker upgrades.
Amps that are plug and play with your factory cables.
There aren’t too many subwoofer options though unfortunately.

I wanted to keep my head unit for now as I don’t feel like throwing money at that as I’d rather buy a sway bar, FRAC front camera system, and other things I would prioritize over a different head unit.

Also yes the overall consensus is that the previous JBL systems were better than the 2020-2021 so I can understand why you would feel that way about your 2017.
