Article states owner replaced some wheel bearings and transmission at 500k miles. Doubt he had a cooler, would've made it at least 750K miles if he added :) Was the transmission ever serviced at all with drain and fills? unknown

All service done at Classic Toyota in Hampton Virginia. Probably using bulk 0W-20 as called for by the oil cap.

As a product of the Tidewater region, what's most impressive (that's absent from the article) is that those "highway miles" aren't truly highway miles. I64 between Norfolk and Richmond, and I95 between Emporia and DC is an absolute stop-and-go hell scape. 85mph, slam on your brakes to stop, Pin it back to 85, is the norm - not "set on 70mph cruise" highway style. Worst area of the country for driving by a long shot.

Just imagine how many MORE miles he would get out of a “better in every conceivable way” 3rd Gen!! Too bad he needs to beg on highway off ramps for gas money like all of us 2/2.5 Gen owners.

Can you imagine getting mileage on this thing? At $0.67/mi, you have yourself a ~$588K. $150K in gas, plus other maintenance, you are probably still ahead $350-400K.

Mine definitely won’t make it to 900k. Maybe I’ll see 500-600k with these 37s.
