I've replaced my stock JBL head units with a Pioneer AVIC-W8500NEX head unit w/Maestro and Sirius/XM. I love everything about it but have 2 issues:

    1. There are so many cables and components (Maestro box and Sirius box) behind the head unit now that I can't slide the damn thing back enough to secure it without really forcing it. I had everything taped up but figured everything was too rigid with that so I tried with minimal tape and still the same problem.

    2. The Nav volumes (both Apple Carplay and the Pioneer nav) volumes, dings, etc. are pretty low even at 100%. I've adjust the "Guidance" volume as high as will go in Car Play and Pioneer Nav voice/ding/beep volume to 100%. I'm used to my wife's MDX nav volumes to being a lot louder. I replaced the head unit with another and it's not the head unit that's bad.

Any suggestions on either of these?

    1. I stuffed the Maestro box on the lower part of the bottom, the big cross bar in the middle of the space seems to be what blocks everything

    2. Get used to your volume being on 30 for everything I guess... I haven't figured out another way either. For nav/guidance I've been ok at around 12-15 though

Thanks ninjajay. My Maestro cables seem to be too short to move the Maestro much at all. I had Crutchfield put together my harnesses for me, maybe they didn't leave me enough slack?

Bummer on the volume issue. Seems to me that sufficient volume would be covered in the Head Unit 101 design class :D. I was thinking it had something maybe to do with the Maestro or the OEM JBL amp but who knows.

One more question. I did not hook up the OBDII connector and the gauges still read on the Pioneer. Is the OBD already hardwired in to the stereo harness somehow?
