Long story short--I backed my 2019 Tundra 5.7L Crew Max into a space to drop something off. Left engine running. Came back to truck but it would not go into drive. I could move gear shift from park to reverse to neutral, but could not get it into drive. Eventually I determined the problem was an approximately 1-1/4 inch rock had gotten into the space between the transmissions external shift lever and another protrusion from the transmission case. The lever could move through the P, R and N positions, but encountered the rock when trying to move into D.

Welcome aboard from OKC! Wow! What are the odds??? Just crazy what can happen sometimes. Once had a stray rock go through the gas tank on my 95 Nissan hardbody beater. Not good! Hope you enjoy hanging out with us here!

At least it was an easy fix. Don't imagine it cost much.
