Hello, I have seen quite a few people post about this issue but wanted to ensure that it indeed has been confirmed as “normal operation”

I just purchased a 2019 Limited Tundra brand new and have noticed since day one a slight clunking notice once I’m out of park and at low speeds and can also feel it through the gas pedal.

Seems to only happen when initially putting vehicle out of park and making slight turn.

Any and all input is appreciated! I’m excited to join this forum and learn from you all! I have had 4runners for over ten years and this is my first Tundra.

    hi and welcome,

is your noise coming from the engine or maybe steering components/driveline?

It’s hard to tell, sounds like it’s coming from underneath the vehicle and i just feel it slightly in the pedal, happens once after initially shifting out of park and beginning to drive and doesn’t happen again until the next time I drive.

Are you sure it's not the anti-lock braking system performing its self calibration check? The system does that EVERY time you start the truck up and move forward. It makes an audible "clunk" type tinny/metal sound when you get to about 17-20 mph. And a really sensitive person might feel it in the gas pedal.

The anti lock self calibration is all normal on Gen 3 Tundras.

That very well could be it, I’m going to go with that considering it happens every time and only after initial take off. Thanks! Just wanted to make sure it wasn’t something I should go back to the dealer with.

I have this same issue with my 19. It happens only once after starting. Doesn't matter if your turning or going straight. At 5mph boing. Feels like a spring being unsprung under my foot and and in the steering wheel. Has done it since the first time I drove it. Has remained consistent not getting worse or better and always happens at the same mph. Gonna ask the dealer about it when it goes in for the 5000 mile check.

That knocking sound is your wallet. Wants you to spend some money on wheels, tires, Kings....

or it could be the anti-lock brake system doing a self check. I'm going with wallet. Mine is always knocking....
