2018 white Tundra lower body paint

I bought a new 2018 white Tundra Sport 4x4 and on both sides of the truck the lower portion of the body, the paint is not glossy/smooth like the rest of the truck. It has a texture and looks like orange peel. Is this common on all Tundras or just 2018?

 

Mine is like that as well. 2018 Cement Crewmax.

Normal. They lay the paint on thick in that area for better chip protection against rocks and such being thrown up.

I have a platinum and mine is smooth. My father has a sr5 and his textured.

 

On my 2013 TSS it was textured. Hues it depends on who and what day it was put on at factory. Almost all newer trucks today come with it standard from factory some are smoother than others.

That's because Toyota designs
Platinum for city, mall, etc. and
SR5 for off-road!

 

My 2017 Platinum is textured on the rock panels. I’ve never seen a tundra that’s smooth finish on the lower doors.

 

And you should also notice clear film on some areas for additional protection.
