I have a 2018 tundra trd offroad with 23k or so on it. I have noticed lately that sometimes it revs to 2k before shifting into first and this happens while moving slow or stopped, there is no clunking or jumping into gear just the higher revs. Doesn't do it all the time which makes it more strange to me and if you let off the throttle and re apply it stills needs to rev before the shift occurs.I dont think taking it to the dealer would do anything besides having them drive it and say they "nothing wrong"
Has anyone else had similar issues and if so can anything be done to eliminate this? Maybe a pedal commander or banks product?

I had similar issues in a Ford F150 and the dealer flashed the computer and corrected it. I don't know if it would be the same in a Tundra, but it was a quick reprogram in the Ford.

cold start will always have higher rpms. Suggest you check for clean air filter and maybe clean the MAF.

Mine seems to do this right after leaving my house when taking a right turn. Revs higher then shifts into 2nd I believe. Also doesn't like to shift into 6th if I jump on the highway soon after starting

ATF has to warm up first before normal trans operation. Even my old 2000 does this.

When creeping along, leaving my neighborhood, I'm locked into 3rd then 4th gear till I get to the road. Trans has a chance to reach some semblance of correct temp, instead of lugging into high gears before it's ready. I haven't driven my truck in 'D' in 12 years:D

I've had 4 toyotas that do the second gear high-rev thing, I think it is a cold engine/emissions thing.
