Hey I just removed my power steering fluid and put in amsoil synthetic power steering fluid. It turns out the car uses transmission fluid for power steering fluid. Should I buy transmission fluid or is the amsoil synthetic power steering fluid good?

I would buy the recommended fluid.

Why? What is it you're looking for exactly? I changed the fluid out a month ago with some Mobil1 ATF that met the required standard. It shouldn't really matter too much what brand you use.

Everyone keeps using dex 3 atf fluid. But has anyone used a synthetic power steering fluid?

I recently swapped mine out doing a flush. Used a cheap syphon and ended using about 2 quarts to get the fluid to the right color. Flushed it four times and toped it off.

Valvoline MaxLife Dex/Merc Automatic Transmission Fluid is the brand I used. $7.00 / QT
