2017 Tundra Crewmax side window Deflectors

i'm wanting to install some window/rain deflectors on the Tundra and was at our local dealership yesterday and they sell them but they dont sell the ones that go inside the window channel. Can someone recommend which deflectors work best for you and which installation has worked best for you, in channel or installed on the outside on the door around the window?

Yes, they allow you to leave the windows cracked so water can't get in. It's really hot here in Texas so I'll leave my windows open just enough so I get air flow through my truck while it sits and bakes in the sun.

 

no wonder i dont know what these are. We hardly get any rain in the sonoran desert.

 

I saw where you were from after posting. I put my sunshade in my windshield and crack the windows just a little. It'll drop the inner temp quite a bit compaired to having the windows up. I have them on all of my vehicles. Totally worth the money imo.

This is what you want, and what I use on all my vehicles. I have used both in channel and outside stick on.

In window channel is more low profile, but is harder on the window seal molding over time as it compresses it with the glass.

Outside one's stick out much more, and may create more wind noise, and are easier to get ripped off by a car wash, or any assholes that wander by. They do stay put just fine for years and years by themselves if not molested, and properly installed.

Becareful if you go to brushed car washes. I had one get broken from this, not a good combination lol.

These provide several benefits.
Sometimes they reduce wind noise when windows are down, depending on the vehicle.
They keep rain out if you crack the window while it's raining. Driving or sitting, unless it's raining sideways lol.
They allow you to crack the window when parked in hot climates, while making it tough to break into the vehicle from the open window.
They are very popular for smokers like me so we can smoke when it's raining without getting wet from having the window cracked.
They also look cool, but that's a personal opinion.

 

I personally prefer the WeatherTech Brand. They are low profile and the branding can be removed easily enough.

 

Great brand. AVS is the original maker of visors. Lots of knock offs that are OK tho.

 

Just put my in-channel avs in yesterday. Had them in my old truck and love them. Someone once told me they look “ghetto”. They must have only lived in Southern California their whole life and don’t understand the purpose of them or how awesome it is to have your window slightly cracked in the dead of winter with heated seats on

I also have AVS. I've had problems with Weathertech, but their warranty is good.
