If I don't start my tundra for a few weeks the clock is way off. It shows the wrong time to an even hour (9:00, 1:00).
The battery is good, engine turns over easily, everything else works fine. No big deal to reset the clock but annoying. Also, if this is not supposed to happen I want to get it fixed.
Could this be intentional to save the battery?

Remember reading about this same problem on another site. Owner kept going to the dealer and was told "it is okay". Finally, Toyota replaced the clock and problem fixed.

Probably some bad/flaky circuit board in your clock module. Hope you get it solved.

I will check it out in 3 weeks, then 2 weeks, to see if it is definitely time related.

    Lost track after #1.
I wonder if head units have a tiny battery in them that keep track of that kind of stuff like motherboards do? I don't recall having to reset the clock or my radio stations whenever I disconnected the battery to do some upgrades.

Some electrical components store electricity for a period. I have some appliances with clocks that will keep time for a while when unplugged; they have no batteries.
