2017 tundra 1794 edition fifth wheel hitch

hey I have a 2017 tundra 1794 edition and was wondering the best fifth wheel hitch to get for towing a fifth wheel camper.

some of the fifth wheel trailers I been looking at are around 7,000lbs to 9,000lbs

 

Pretty sure you will be exceeding your truck max payload at that weight, not towing capacity, truck load bearing capacity. Do you know truck payload capacity?

 

A fifth wheel usually carries close to 18-24% on the truck. So suppose you have an 8k trailer, 20% would be #1600.

 

max payload is about 2,000lbs

sorry I do not at this time, it is a 1794 edition crew max with the 5.5 box, and is all stock

 

Well that means you have a much smaller payload rating than you have quoted, probably close to #1200. Check out the label inside the door. Don't forget any passengers, water, waste, gear, etc. Like I stated previously, I think you are in the too little truck, too much trailer category. Do some more research before you lay down money on a trailer or hitch.

 

that's what I am going to do, just thought someone here in the forum may have towed a fifth wheel camper with there tundras before, I did have a bumper tow that was 7,500lbs and it towed just fine with no issues, but have been looking at the fifth wheel campers now

No problem, you as well. Safe travels. Just can't advise you to load that big 5th wheel, plus all that goes along with it on your truck.

 

yes I understand you can't advise, but I am just looking for any info right now, would love to have a fifth wheel but may go back to another bumper tow, there just aren't to many trailers out there right now that suit our interest
