2017 trailer brake controller update

2017 Tundra SR5 Double Cab

I read an article posted about some Tundras (2016-17) had a trailer brake controller update. Since I've had my 2017 my controller has been set at 9.5, it works fine but that seems high. I don't want to spend money on a new controller but if there is an update I'd be glad to do that. Do I have to go to the dealer or can i do the update myself?
