I just bought a 2017 TRD this week... drove 300 miles this weekend. The fuel gauge showed I had 37 miles left when the fuel gage light came on. I drove 20 more miles and filed up. It held 28.6 gallons. So does that mean I have a 38 gallon tank with a huge (9 gallon reserve)?? That’s crazy. Or is something wrong with the calibration??

No. The 38 gallon tank will turn on the gas light at somewhere around 450 miles (city vs. highway influences this mileage). And at the point you will have a good solid 6 gallons left. At least that's my experience with my 38 gallon tank in my 2017 4WD Tundra.

Did you buy the truck new? Have the Mama Toyota window sticker? It would tell you there.

Bought it from a dealer last week... 16 months old. 19,000 miles.
I think if it holds 28.6 gallons it must have a 38 gallon tank... correct?

Yes, on the 26 gallon tank, if you run it down to 0 miles left to empty, you’ll only get about 20 gallons in. They might’ve disconnected the battery and may need a little time to re-calibrate.

Does it have the factory towing package? If it does then you should have the 38 gallon tank.

EDIt. Looks like joonbug knows how the 26 gallon tank behaves.
